I wouldn't mind a system where you have an official weigh in the day before but also a second weigh in the day of where you have to be within a certain window(call it 6 or 7 lbs) of the weight class after re-hydrating. This would at least ensure that people aren't cutting an absurd amount of...
I don't think I'd go as far as calling it a "robbery" but, yeah, I think they got that decision wrong. I don't think you should be able to win a championship fight by throwing a bunch of grazing front kicks for 5 rounds. At least Shevchenko was throwing actual combos(and landing more).
It's on both sides, really. A lot of Conor fans who actually thought he was going to win are now falling back to the "moral victory" narrative.
On the other hand, I definitely don't remember tons of "Floyd's going to wait until round 10, losing several along the way, before he wins via superior...
The guy just went 10 rounds(winning some along the way) with an undefeated, all time great boxer in his first boxing match. Anybody "LOLing" at that is an absolute moron.
Well, one guy beats the fuck out of women and the other, at worst, has an annoying way of promoting his fights. Not really a tough choice.
I'd kind of rather this dumb fight wasn't happening at all though.
What about having 2 different weigh in points? One a certain number of weeks out from the event to make sure you're within a certain range(say 10-15 lbs or a certain %) for the weight class and then the official weigh in on the day to make sure you actually hit the mark. This would prevent guys...
It wasn't a robbery. I think I might have given it to Thompson but, to me, a robbery is where there's an obvious winner but the score goes the other way. Nobody "obviously" won this garbage fight.
Like it or not, CM Punk has accomplished something that has made him a "draw". His pro wrestling career made him a relatively famous figure and now he's parlaying that into a top spot in a different pursuit. Any anger and frustration from MMA fighters is likely rooted in jealousy that nobody...
So the argument has gone from "Conor would have been killed if Nate had a full camp!!" to "Diaz 2,3,5!!" to "Should have been a draw!" to "Yeah but Nate was injured!!" to "Yeah but Conor's not better on the ground!" to "Yeah but Conor's not the greatest of all time!!"...
This is becoming quite...
Nobody dominated anything. Even the 4th round, which was probably the most decisive round of the fight(and went to Dillashaw), wasn't some brutally one sided "domination". People are really letting hyperbole and absolutes get in the way of reason. It was a close fight that could've gone either...
For me it came down to this: Total strikes were basically a wash. Cruz landed more to the head, DIllashaw to the body. The thing that tipped the scales is that Cruz landed a better percentage and had a few takedowns sprinkled in to boot. I also thought he controlled the pace a little better...
Went with Aldo just because I expected more out of him. I mean I, like many here, never really bought the Ronda hype. I also never bought Weidman as being a guy that was clearly a cut above the rest of the division.
I guess, to put it simply, Aldo is so far and away the best of those 3...
