Yeah right. Khabib and his dodgy manager will earn more against McGregor than against the rest of the top ten combined. They aren't turning McGregor down.
So far he's proven himself to be one of the best fighters to ever grace the UFC. You might not like him but you cannot deny his resume: Alvarez, Diaz, Aldo, Holloway, Poirier.
Looking forward to watching him decapitate Khabib.
It's a tough fight for Alvarez. The first fight was a war and he came real close to losing. He doesn't want any part of the rematch right now because he's close to a title shot, and he knows if he loses he'll be pushed to the back of the line again.
Khabib's a smart guy, he knows he's not a legitimate champion. To become a champion, you need to beat the champion. He didn't beat McGregor. He didn't beat Tony. And he didn't beat Holloway. He beat a #11 ranked Iaquinta.
Until he defeats Tony or McGregor, Khabib's wearing a fake belt.
He should fight Khabib. Any other top contenders (Alvarez, Poirier/Gaethje winner) should fight on the same card so they can step in should either Khabib or Tony get injured/not make weight.
Agreed. I don't think Khabib's takedowns are special. They aren't explosive. Fighters tend to see them coming. But he's strong and has the tenacity to keep working until he gets his opponents down. It's his top game that's really good.
I'd love to see Khabib vs. Gregor Gillespie. That guy can...
This fight will be more competitive than Khabib vs. Holloway. Holloway was coming off an injury, hadn't been training, and isn't known for great TDD.
Raging Al has good wrestling, was meant to fight on the card anyway so is in shape, and his boxing is sharp.
Looking forward to it.
Masvidal is a tricky fight for anyone. Wanna talk about dubious decisions? Try Khabib/Tibau.
Agree with OP: Raging Al is one of the most dangerous stylistic match ups for Khabib in the division. Much more dangerous than an off-the-couch Holloway.
Why did the UFC tell Ortega to stay/get in shape? They called him and he accepted the fight before they decided to go with Holloway.
Knowing that Holloway was going to be overweight, hadn't been training, and was coming off an injury, it would've been smart to keep Ortega in the picture in case...
Shut up you little crybaby. You'd be lucky to have a friend like McGregor who's willing to fly a planeful of Irish gangsters halfway across the world to have your back.
McGregor's a gangster. Saw his boy Artem was getting harassed by that cowardly Chechen and his squad of hairy mountain men and decided to fly his own Irish mob over, private jet, to handle business.
Nah, he's just comfy af and doesn't need to fight. McGregor will fight anyone but nowadays the price has to be right.
Holloway, Poirier, Mendes, Aldo, Diaz, Alvarez. Bunch of cherry-picked bums right?
Few things to consider:
1. It's a five round fight
2. Tony has great cardio and durability
3. Tony's more slick on the ground than Barboza
I think Khabib will win, but if it goes into the later rounds, I expect Tony to still be there, looking crazy.
