Congrads on the new rank. I've been purple for 2 years now, noticed I pay more attention to exploring combinations and controlling limbs when grappling as opposed to looking for subs.
It's a lot of fun and not a waste of time. Since you have some wrestling knowledge you'll probably catch onto some things quicker than other people. Have fun and don't forget to wash you GI!
Was anybody's gym open this morning (Dec. 24th)? Mine was but only two other guys were there to grapple with. Tomorrow morning I'll be stairing into the gym window drooling.
Try to go more than just twice a week. Everyone's a little different on how fast they progress w/ BJJ but I'd say the average person gets past white within 2 yrs....but that's probably going more than twice a week.
I bought a mouthguard online for as much as 20 bucks....and I've bought one at Wal-Mart for less than 5$. I couldn't really tell the difference, both were good and kept my grill in place.
The first expensive mouthguard I bought I fucked up in the boil/bite process. My advice is buy a cheap...
Tanner/Terrell looked like bad technique to me (just my opinion)....Tanner stayed calm which probably played a big factor as well. Good luck to anyone trying to choke Sherk...donno, wonder if he could survive the good ol' baseball bat choke.
I've had those tapes for 4 years now and never tried the all round work out. Still puttin' myself through the all round fighting 3 minute rounds. Killer stuff though.... Defense!!!
