I'm glad my bias towards aldo is legitimized by his number of title defenses. Including the WEC he has 9. That's almost twice as many as Volk and 3 time as many as Holloway. Crazy impressive.
I never really thought of it like that, but there’s definitely some merit to what you’re saying. Alex looked really bad in the Bruno Silva fight. The thing is, power is all one needs. It’s okay to be deficient elsewhere if you can crack. Many have gone a long way relying on their power. I will...
Hill reminds me of Luke Rockhold a ton in regards to how they go about expressing their level of belief in themselves. It sounds like he’s overlooking Alex like crazy.
Aldo has far more defenses as a champion, though. How long someone reigns over a division factors in greatly in these convos. Aldo has 3x as many defenses as Holloway does. Aldo has 9 if you include the wec and Holloway only has 3.
Aldo still has the most consecutive FW title defenses in UFC history. His WEC title defenses make that title reign even more impressive. My vote is still for Aldo, but that’s mainly because he resembles my dad lol. <mma3>.
that makes sense. it's not as if stipe pulled out of the fight. it'd be messed up to stipe if it's jones who pulled out and then stipe gets leapfrogged when he did nothing wrong.
You’re welcome. Both fights are definitely entertaining. Alex’s 2012 itshowtime title fight against Jason Wilnis was definitely a greener Alex. He was still competing at the highest level at that point but he gets so much better once itshowtime turns into glory. Alex really hits his stride in...
In the year 2012 Tate and Alex were actually pretty close in skill. They both failed at getting the itshowtime belt in 2012. It wasn’t Muay Thai, though. They fought under k1 rules. Andrew isn’t even Muay Thai based. He’s karate based. Alex would go on to become much better though but there was...
Both Tate and Alex unsuccessfully challenged for the itshowtime belt in 2012. Tate challenged against the lineal champ and Alex fought for the vacant belt. Tate has a belt in enfusion and was the 2012 enfusion tournament runner up in which one could argue crowned the best 85kg fighter at the...
I get that Alex’s defense is a bit suspect but hill swings extremely wide. there’s a huge chance he leaves himself open to be countered. while hill does have a great chin, he’s still facing a notorious power puncher. hill has the odds stacked against him imo.
Jiri walked right into that punch. King Mo ko’d Jiri stiff walking into a punch. Alex couldn’t do the same, and king mo doesn’t exactly have game changing power. Just one clean stoppage at LHW doesn’t scream game changing power at LHW to me.
Styles make fights Glover not performing as well was because Hill fought Glover differently than Jiri did. The fact Glover was still landing takedowns in the 5th lets me know he was still elite. Alex is 2-1 in recent fights at LHW in glory, and the only stoppage of those wins is over a MW that...
Glover wasn’t really moving too differently in the Hill fight compared to the Jiri fight, though. Glover landed a takedown in the final round and had a decent amount of control time as well. It’s hard to do that if you’re washed. I’m not sure it’s fair to discredit Hill’s win like that. I’m not...
