I thought that Nate was taunting Tony, shaking his head like Tony did as he got TKOed by Gaethje — fucking with Tony’s head to get a chance to recover from a nasty kick.
Talking and goofing off had nothing to do with Holland losing. Brunson beat him, and would have beaten him even if he kept his mouth shut and acted serious.
Holland’s striking was better, but Brunson’s was good enough to avoid getting KTFO, land enough shots to earn Holland’s respect, and set...
The UFC wanting him to win was only one of three reasons I gave for him getting grief. By itself, it would not have been enough to cause his tremendous problem of Shertards making mean threads about him.
And you’re talking about Shertards giving Izzy grief. That doesn’t mean he has to take...
Izzy got grief because he was the favorite, the UFC wanted him to win, and there was little talk about how good Blachowitz is. Conor would’ve gotten the same if he lost a clear-cut decision to Alvarez.
At face value, Sterling posing with the belt is a douche move. But it is brilliant financially, as it generates interest in the rematch for a manlet division that doesn’t usually sell — and he reaps the benefit in PPV points as the champ, even if most people want to see him lose.
Nice clips and post — exhibit A and exhibit B — of Rogan and DC expressing an opinion and “forgetting” to call the fight. They weren’t giving Jan credit for outstriking Adesanya. I couldn’t believe that they were unsure of the outcome before Buffer announced the decision. It was a good fight...
Colby is likely the one holding out — for PPV points. Usman gets points as the champ, but he doesn’t sell fights. Colby has a decent argument — his schtick is annoying, but it makes people want to see him lose.
The UFC might do it. UFC 202 is kind of a unicorn, because it had Conor and was a rematch of a recent extremely popular fight with Diaz. But even if Nate/Jorge does half as well, it will still be a huge success.
I’m not sure if the UFC would pay them enough to do it on a fight night instead...
I agree that this should be a five-rounder, and that Nate and Masvidal will likely demand more pay than their current contracts provide. But this can be solved if the UFC pays them PPV points and make the fight a 5-round main event, like Conor-Nate 2.
Cain and Weidman made millions from PPV points alone as champions and are likely set for life, as they’re family men and not spendthrifts.
Lower-paid fighters that can’t fight due to injury, etc. have to work, but many are very accomplished in at least one discipline of fighting, so they can...
I’m not a lawyer either, so I don’t quite understand how she has a case. Maybe she can recover if she demonstrates to the NLRB that the UFC has a consistent pattern of dumping fighters that try to organize.
But as I posted earlier ITT, she’d have little trouble getting an attorney to take...
It’s difficult to gauge how religion might affect fans. Some may root against Khabib because they are anti-Muslim, but they wouldn’t likely have the balls to give the reason. And he may get just as much support from Muslim fans.
I’m not Muslim, and Khabib’s religious expression doesn’t...
