Fighter with unexpected good grappling/bjj skills

Jorge Gurgel and Andy Wang were mainly strikers, but supposedly they could also grapple.

Media Jiri Prochazka - I simply began to forget essence of the fight, the violence.

Love this guy. Seems like he was trying to win a more technical fight, but realized he'd lose and said fuck it I'll finish him. He at least knows he needs to be more technical, but also that he has be violent in his back pocket.

Where does Colby go from here?

He probably wants to fight someone old like Wonderboy or nate diaz

How come Max is still in his prime but people say that Aldo was past prime when he fought Volk?

I've played amateur sports with guys that are noticeabley slower/useless at 28, even being in good shape. And others that are still going strong into their late thirties. Different people are different. It also depends on your strengths/weaknesses. Some age better than others.

Media Cejudo to Usman: "I don't blame Adesanya for not wanting to fight Pereira again"

Aljo is just a boring fighter. Hill and Adesanya are arrogant whine bags and drama queens though. People generally don't hate Rashad, MVP, Rampage, Overeem, Manhoef, Brunson, Cannonier, DC, Leon etc. Who are all black, but are usually classy. Imagine that, people being judged on their character.

Gaethje got sparked by a Featherweight

Gathje went for broke. Risked the KO for the chance to win. That's what MMA fans want, isn't it? Or would you rather a guy that's down on the cards spend the rest of the fight doing nothing to avoid getting hurt? You'd rather watch that than the last 20 seconds of this fight? SMH

Gaethje got sparked by a Featherweight

Gathje doesn't grapple and if anything Max had a reach advantage. So it makes no difference. No other LW is agreeing to fight Max due to dough heads like you, which is why praised Gathje at the start of his interview with Rogan. Gathje is tough as nails and has balls of steel.

    Has Alex Surpassed Izzy's legacy?

Hard to compare in MMA as Perreira has so few fights and started late. He's only really had 6 MMA fights against decent competition, from 2022-2024. Izzy has had 15 from 2018-2014.

All the guys with the Joe Rogan’s “compromised” legs won last Saturday…can someone please get him to SU??

This is true, but Rogan acted like their legs no longer worked AT ALL. Like they were O'Malley vs. Chito level bad, or that one more leg kick would end the fight. He was 100% objectively wrong and the outcomes show this. He should just say "fighter x has landed some good leg kicks and...

Why do people try to stand with Poatan when they clearly should be trying to get it down?

Jamal Hill has literally never lost a fight on the feet. He might have thought he was at Alex's level, as crazy as that sounds. And he has no notable background in wrestling or BJJ. Poatan also KOs you stiff before you have a chance to realize how fucked you are. It isn't like he destroys you...

What is there to hate about Pereira?

Agreed. But I'd still take that over ducking, dodging and whining. The other guy was still given a chance in the cage at least.

Is it fair to say Alex Pereira is the best striker in MMA history?

I agree with you. I think Anderson could do more voodoo and he KOd people with elbows, knees, front kicks. But Perreira just bides his time, figures things out and then knocks you out cold. The only knock on Perreira is that aside from Izzy he hasn't really faced any great strikers (Strickland...

What is there to hate about Pereira?

Izzy was like this too, full credit to both him and Poatan. No ducking.

What is there to hate about Pereira?

If you don't like Poatan, or at least watching him fight, I don't know how you are even an MMA fan. What more do you want? That's like saying you hated watching prime Fedor.

I can't believe that Conor Mcgregor is the favorite against Chandler.

Exactly right. Good opportunity to put money on Chandler IMO.

I can't believe that Conor Mcgregor is the favorite against Chandler.

If this fight ever even happens I'm putting money on Chandler if the odds are at all even. Chandler has still looked athletic and durable in his last fights. He seems like he probably trains his ass off still and lives right, despite the layoff. If the fight goes past a round I think he's got...

Dustin Poirier's 3rd title shot is even more undeserved and stupid than Colby's 3rd.

If Tsarukyan won't do it there's nobody more deserving than Poirier. He just brutally KO'd one of the top prospects in the entire UFC. Most of the other guys are coming off losses, are inactive/injured or crazy boring. I'd rather just keep the division moving and reward guys for not rank...

    Bo Nickal is absolutely terrible

He seems athletic enough and good enough at wrestling to get "good." But it isn't at all clear how good his striking is or how his wrasslin will hold up against someone with TDD or grappling. It isn't like he's super young, the guy is already 28. At the same age Weidman was already champ and...

The 35+ Curse Year Old Curse at LW and Below?

Yup, these guys all look much slower now. The divisions are also way deeper than at HW or LHW. Poatan was fighting old Jan, and Jamal Hill, while at LW or 145 you are looking at Islam, Toppuria, Poirier, Holloway, BSD, Fiziev, Gamrot, Tsarukyan etc. Guys that have skill and are fast, strong...

Media Hill emoting during Alex Pereira walkout

This is the kind of thing where hindsight dictates what it means. If he wins its because of his refusal to show Pereira too much respect and being confident, if he loses its because he was shook/insecure. I think he just lost to a guy with better stand up and a nuclear left hand.
