I'm also using deep half as a bail out / opportunistic position. I've been experimenting with the Faria style however it's a lot more complicated and tricky to set up than it first appears and I'm not too keen on the threat of collar chokes and kimuras. Really looking...

Jedi mind trick is a counter to the back step counter guys do when you've gained control with an underhook from the bottom.
You switch hooks and move your body underneath them as they backstep and you end up in a leg drag type passing position.
I love x-guard. As well as the obvious entries to the position such as from shin on shin, butterfly or 1 leg x you can also get into x guard from the following situations
When escaping from the back and the person tries to mount.

I often transition to that modified x-guard position from the 1 leg x if I'm struggling to get the sweep from single leg x. Often when the guy has a really good base and won't let me grab the far leg. The modified guard allows me to use my right leg to pull their far leg toward me so I can grab...
He means the 1 leg x variation Mansher Kerha uses a lot. Also known as overhook x guard or Lagarto guard.
You move the foot from the hip to the inside on the thigh by the groin and you use your other foot to hook and pull or push and stretch out your opponent.
