I like how in the first pictures he is leaving his face unprotected, but in the later ones he has his rear hand up in position. Progress!
Good stuff, man. Has he had any ammy fights yet?
I'm with ya, Enswell. Just because the ref SHOULD prevent it from happening doesn't mean that he will. Nor do we (the viewers) necessarily want him to be breaking up and calling fighters on every little thing.
They are actually doing too much of it, if you ask me. Thats why we get all these "showcases" with prospects taking on career losers on Friday Night Fights and Fight Club. I know these kind of mismatches are necessary to build a career, but they shouldn't be televised in my opinion.
If you...
Marquez wins the 2nd fight, and if anything, it will be easier this time around. Diaz has one speed and one style, and he has zero ability to adjust his game plan. Marquez is the best in the world after Mayweather Jr. at adjusting. He's going to pick Diaz apart again, and probably get another...
Well...Martinez "offering" Williams a rematch is a little misleading since it was Williams who won the fight. Still, from what I have read, both are interested in a rematch, but aren't in a terrible hurry to do it. The good thing about these two guys is that they are willing to fight anyone...
He has proven himself as an elite fighter, but not as a guy who can sell tickets.
Salaries have to come from somewhere, and if you only draw a few thousand people in your hometown, it is tough to justify making a million a fight. It forces either horrible undercards to keep costs down, or guys...
I think Williams beats them both.
As far as the Martinez rematch, my understanding was that both of them were more interested in securing other fights before a rematch gets made.
Williams moved up to 154 shortly after the 2nd Quintana fight, allowing all 147 pounders to safely remove him from consideration.
I actually think either Berto or Clottey would take a fight with Williams at this point. Berto has a hell of a time getting a dance partner, especially one that...
Whats wrong with Berto or Clottey? What, he's just supposed to announce he's back to 147 and the very top guys should jump in line to fight him? No way. He would not be ranked as a WW until 1-2 fights back in the division, and then he can start pushing for a fight against a champion.
Thats...
His fight with Margarito was a big deal, and then he promptly lost to Quintana, a guy who had been massacred by Cotto. Honestly, Williams was just another very talented fighter in a division with lots of them. Now he's calling guys out at 147 while campaigning at 154 and 160. He says he can...
He's tall and rangy enough to maybe have some success with moving up again, but 4-5 pounds means a lot more at the lower weight classes than the higher ones.
I'm not sure that Williams is the best example, because for all of Williams talk about getting ducked, he got some big fights at 147...
