I train at Gracie Barra Ballard. We have a black belt that lives in West Seattle that makes the drive to our gym almost everyday so he at least thinks its worth the drive.
As far as I've heard visitors really enjoy our school. We are going to be putting brand new mats down soon also. You should...
I feel like Bisping’s next fight should be Vitor Belfort. He avenged the Rockhold loss and the Henderson loss now his last fight could attempt to avenge his Belfort loss (and avenge his eyeball)
Do it in the UK where Bisping has never lost and give him a chance to retire on a high note.
There is nothing magical about brown belts. Just keep improving your jiu jitsu. People that are better than you will probably stay better than you but you may close the gap over time.
I think people are joking about the catch them while they are tired stuff.. but If you tap someone like that...
I had like 2 or 3 stripes on my purple belt like almost 2 years ago and they fell off and i just kept training with no stripes. Just last week another purple belt got stripes on his belt and said something to the instructor about it apparently and he put 2 stripes back on my belt lol. I don't...
Maia got the two worst match ups for him in the division in a row. He is still amazing at 40 years old he is fighting dominant wrestlers that do everything they can to disengage from grappling with him. He is a legend. I don't think he is done yet I think he will leave the sport on his terms...
And what happens when Colby can't take down someone? He will probably get boxed up.. he got boxed up by Maia in the first round when Maia was fresh. Everyone has weaknesses. Maia is 40 years old fighting a NCAA champion wrestler 10 years younger than him and the wrestler is doing everything...
Maia pretty much rag dolls anyone who wasn’t a champion wrestler and he is 40 years old.
Colby said he wanted to show who the superior grappler was in pre-fight. Just garbage. At least TWood was honest about using his wrestling to disengage from all the grappling.
I try to use Maia's guard passing style sometimes. The half guard pass is simple and pretty easy to get to. His butterfly passing is timing based and is not so easy for me to do but I still work on it. I also never wrestled when I was a kid but I have taken a lot of little tricks from MMA which...
Jiu jitsu is fucking fine. Every fight is a struggle to get a fight into the position or range that you excel in and your opponent is the weakest. Oh 70 year old Maia couldn't take down D1 All American wrestling champion so BJJ must not work anymore? You see wrestlers fail to TD other wrestlers...
DC has been talking about his striking a lot and how he will destroy Jones in the standup. Which actually probably means he will double down on wrestling Jones.
I used to be all about closed guard a few years ago but I find it much easier to find sweeps from half guard then closed guard now. I feel like it's a more double edged position so you have more threats between sweeping and taking the back (and more risk of losing the position as well).
When did I say that Jones wasn't a good fighter? Also it seems like a tactic that wouldn't be used in sparring since you could break your partners fingers with it. Just throwing throwing out ways to fight your boys cheese tactics as is the topic of the thread and all... But please continue to be...
I always thought that that when Jones extends his arm with his fingers pointed towards the opponent's face as sort of a stiff arm tactic that it might be effective to punch his hand. It wouldn't take a big commited punch or anything but if you jammed his fingers backwards or straight down into...
