    Garry Tonon Rain Guard?

It's from the breaking hearts and legs instructional. The segments before and after are totally normal. Just completely out of left field.

"3 techniques in 1 class" mentality

Completely respect your opinion with respect to untrained people. I do disagree with one thing though and almost all beginner and intermediate curriculums do this. The time focus is completely different from actual (sport) sparring. Actual sparring is 85% passing and guard and 15% everything...

"3 techniques in 1 class" mentality

I visit lots of gyms on vacation. Definitely the norm ten years ago. Nowadays I see some gyms skip warm up or warm up with a technique they already know. Instead of three unrelated techniques, the techniques might be related. Or maybe two techniques. Or three techniques, but tell the new...

    Andre Galvao vs Gordon Ryan

What are you talking about? The x guard, SLX, seatbelt system is a huge part of the standard no gi game played by everybody these days. If anything, Marcelo is underrated.

    Danaher No Gi Takedowns

Danaher is actually much better in recent videos compared to older videos. I used to feel as you feel but now I will buy Danaher videos. Just be sure to watch at 1,75x.

Reason for Gracie Jiu Jitsu Certified Training Center Success?

These two posters joined around the same time. The only posts they have are about how great gracie combatives are. Are they real accounts or no? Can't say 100% for sure, but they're literally the first accounts I am putting on ignore. Not even 'themaster' has gone on ignore.

Escaping a top lock from closed guard

Braulio also is big with this technique. Braulio calls it high guard. It's another case of Danaher coming up with his own names for positions. Braulios escape is to get the shoulder out. You can't get the shoulder out if bottom player is pulling your head down and towards the knee over the...

    Ryan Hall's "Murder Kimura"

On Gordon Ryan's new instructional, he shows exactly this sequence. Kimura to triangle (he calls it some Japanese name). If they clasp their hands to defend kimura, the triangle is there. If they open hands to defend triangle, kimura is there. He uses this choke a few times in the sparring...

Account of The Rickson Gracie Vs. Yoji Anjo Fight

Is the idea that you learn languages better by starting earlier really just a matter of reps? For example I teach my daughter Spanish by speaking one hour a day. My daughter that I started at 2 will be better than my daughter I started at 14 not because of age but because the daughter at two...

bjj - celebrity seminars you have attended

Rafa. Instruction was pretty much exactly as in the AOJ website, with exactly the same techniques. He did spend a lot of time answering questions and was friendly enough to the attendees. Very open about how he runs his gym. Q/a s the best part, he seemed to know what the asker was asking about...

Collar Sleeve - Dealing with the Rafa Leg Drag

I use this pass sometimes. #1 doesn't work on somebody who uses this pass. They are too used to it. It only works on somebody just learning the pass. Most likely not having a strong butterfly hook. I've seen Rafa defend this is twice, against AOJ BB Nick Bohli. The first time, Rafa did...

What is your favorite rashguard brand?

100% agree. It's not like other sports where buying 5x expensive equipment gives you 2x performance. A 5x expensive gi or rash guard does not affect my performance in any significant way. I buy my gi to support my friend, but my rash guards are all cheap Amazon ones.

How much progress can you make by training with beginners in jiu jitsu ?

Mostly, but not 100% true for Roger. There are a few world level GB BB in England - Braulio and Charles Negromonte - and there is footage of them training with Roger. I would imagine Victor estima as well A fourth degree BB once told me that when he learns a new technique, he tries it out on...

Concepts / moves in bjj that took longer for you to understand or learn ?

Along these lines, realizing that closed guard bottom is exhausting. Mostly because the old UFCs had Royce Gracie tiring out bigger opponents while on bottom in closed guard. For some reason this made me think closed guard is made for small people with bad cardio. Just chill on bottom while...

Do you think you will get a black belt?

If you train long enough somebody will give your a BB. Nobody is going to second guess that a 60 year old isn't a 'real black belt' or anything like that.

    Just Not Built For It?

Absolutely a horrible reply. Look at OP avatar pic. Does that shirtless guy look like he needs more muscle? Imo injuries depend on strength, but approach to bjj matters way more.
