What are your favorite bjj podcasts?

I've been quite enjoying Tom Halpin's "Inside Position"

Karel Pravec shows one simple trick to make your arm triangle better

If you bring the underhook arm across, it will drive the elbow up (so if you're cross facing with the left arm, the right hand heads to the left elbow), then use your chin to lock it in place. See Braulio here:

The definitive "how to finish a heel hook" thread

There are multiple ways to break someone from an inside heel hook. The 2nd vid you posted of the side bridge into the knee - that's more from his outside sankaku or 80/20 position. If you don't have that position you can still finish the heelhook through rotation. In fact if you watch Ryan...

Today I felt the power of PEDs in BJJ

I think he was trying to ghost escape. Probably felt the cross face start to slip and decided to go for it.

Collar Sleeve - Dealing with the Rafa Leg Drag

Yeah you're basically in the footlock position. It's something I need to study because I haven't gotten too into the whole berimbolo/footlock scene.

Collar Sleeve - Dealing with the Rafa Leg Drag

Just wanted to get people's thoughts on dealing with the Rafa Leg Drag from collar sleeve. See ~16 mins here: So far I have a couple thoughts: 1. Trying to stand up (opponent is lazy with butterfly hook or pants grip). 2. Trying to get a butterfly hook on the top leg (esp if he breaks sleeve...

Untrained 400lb Strongest Man Demolishes 210 lb Bjj Blackbelt In Grappling

I can't imagine what rolling with the mountain would be like. I've rolled with 250lb+ powerlifter types and that has always been insanely difficult. I think your point about the BB being the bigger person is true though. If it was someone who was used to being the smaller grappler I don't think...

Dealing with the knee cut rdlr vs shin to shin?

I've been thinking about this lately. I don't really play RDLR that much anymore because I feel the top player has such a big advantage there. If I am there, I am trying to off balance overhead and get my leg out ASAP. Watch Leary vs Lepri at the Euros. Lepri is one of the best knee cut...

Doctors writing prescriptions for themselves, family, friends

NEVER give a dime to De La Riva ever again

Personally I am not sure how to approach these situations. I think the story seems credible. I believe one should be considered innocent until proven guilty. There is no evidence that I have seen. I know that it is difficult to tell if someone is lying (broadly). People's eyewitness...

How many hookers are still working during all this?

Marcelo and Braulio Sparring Session Analysis

I mean this is just one roll of 10. Some really cool moments from both guys those rolls. Really good analysis as well from Paul. When I saw the YT notification it was like Christmas.

So who has cancelled/suspended their membership and who hasn't?

I paid the year in advance when I signed up. They automatically paused the membership though.

Relevance of closed guard in modern BJJ

Really strong position. Difficult to get to.

    Mendes Bros split from Atos

Pretty much everything I have seen Rafa or Gui teach has been gold. I've been to their seminars, and I would rank it among the best seminars I have been to.

Has anyone trained 7 days a week?

I've done it. Gets a bit boring, to be honest.
  17. JagRoss

    which would you rather have

Just have biggass hands. A lot of top BJJ guys have huge hands.
  18. JagRoss

Do you ever lose motivation to train all of a sudden?

Yeah, I've learnt my lesson there as well.

Did any of you completely reinvent your game at a late stage in bjj?

I would say my game has remained similar as I've progressed. I've added a lot of things to my game, and different things have been emphasized. I'm different grappler to what I was 5 years ago, but at the same time, I'm not that different.
