Fairtex BGV9 if you're looking at specifically sticking with a Thai company. It's their Mexican style glove so the pocket is a tad wider/roomier than most of their gloves. The BGV1 is actually touted as their "tight fitting" gloves. IMO the BGV9 is probably one of better gloves Fairtex makes...
The pattern looks very similar to my Booster gloves. Especially the palm side.
Ditto on ditching the star. Also not a fan of such large graphics (with the exception of maybe the brand name) over the entire fist. A bit too "mma" for my taste, although I am a fan/enthusiast of the sport...
Cleto trainers (newer version/white thumb) are going to feel world's apart from your BGV9's. The BGV9 was patterned after the original reyes trainers (solid color) rather than the soft foam Cletos that are on the market today. I own both fairtex and Cletos and to be honest I prefer my 9's on...
Did you request a beefier wrist on your custom supersofts? I think I am going to do so when I place mine.
Although great gloves, I feel the actual "supersoft" name can really only be applied to the first versions after having compared the two. Now those were suuuuper soooooft!
Edit on the inner wrist padding of the SS 2.0...
Seems to be EVA and a low density foam combo, not fiber fill. I'm probably looming on this a little longer than I should be but I've been playing with the gloves for the past couple of days and have been noticing everything. And I mean...
Whaaaat?! You mean you're not a fan of the chunky wrist? Haha jk man. I personally fancy the fiber filling when stuffed properly. The combo filling in the SS 2.0 was actually something I asked Topboxer about back when he did my customs. He wasn't so sure about the idea and went with straight EVA.
I've mentioned this in another thread, but my 12oz Supersofts are more protective in terms of knuckle protection and shock absorption than some of the 16oz gloves I own. I love my 12oz SS for pad and mitt work. 14 seems like a good compromise in profile and weight to be used as an all around...
Absolutely love the profile of my sabas triple cuffs. Rm is right in saying that it is slightly denser than the SS padding, yet a bit thinner. I want to say it's dual density double layer latex...pretty common for most Mexican style gloves. And the wrist...I love them chunky wrist casts!
I must say thay while I am impressed with the 16oz versions I just received, I do wish the padding on the back of the wrist was a bit thicker/rigid.
A cool thing to note is the padding on the inner wrist. It seems to be a combo of EVA foam (towards leather) and fiber filler (towards liner)...
If anyone here that owns both Winnings and Supersofts wants to chime in...
How does the padding on the wrist (inner and outer) differ from each other (if it does at all)? Is one thicker than the other, softer/denser, more rigid, etc...
Or are they pretty comparable?
Got mine in 16oz during the BFriday sale also. For the price (even at full price) I'd say these are a steal. Break in took some time, a little longer than expected, with the stiffer padding out of the box coupled with the smaller than usual finger compartment. Gives a nice snug fit once...
