I put off the gi for so long before I finally committed, now I train 80% of the time in the gi. I love it.
Learn some Judo, best for grip break technique. Trust me once you hit your first gi choke you'll go into a rabbit hole of awesomeness.
yea i'm not worried about that I swam in college so my body is acclimated to whatever I throw at it. I was more curious if there were specific things people did to get back to where they were
don't think I mentioned an injury....I just had to take time off with work and relationship issues. I trained about 4 years 4x a week prior....
thanks for the advice, yes I know mat time is the most important thing however I was curious if anyone had insight into specific drills or anything...
any advice from folks here that have come back to training after taking a significant break (8 months or longer)? I just started training again and I'm curious to hear thoughts on what you did to get back to where you were skill wise and timing wise as quickly as possible.
can't believe no one's mentioned teh presh
if anyone pulls that shit, I'm going to make them as uncomfortable as possible the rest of the round, not go for any subs, and see if they tap from shoulder pressure or mount pressure
buy a duplex in a popular college town. you'll never have vacancy and then outsource to property management company that's well known and has good reviews. you may have costs a few times a year when they throw ragers, but just charge up the ass with deposits and you'll get that passive income...
same here, except I swam all the way through college. One of my good training partners stopped me one day and was like wtf bro calm down and breathe. It made all the difference.
stop by rebellion academy (checkmat affiliate) if you can, jeff baldwin is head instructor and is a bb in judo and bjj. would love to roll with you brother! Friday nights we have judo for an hour, and then 15 six minute rounds of rolling
