Why Does the UFC Keep Such a Big Roster?

This. Buying up talent keeps higher ranked fighters in-line for fear of replacement. Furthermore, it prevents competiton as Bellator, One and PFL must fight over scraps.

Media All FINISHES by legend and hero Mark Coleman

100% He had the "it" factor and his only problem was coming into the sport older than what is optimal and furthermore, during a time when mixing-arts was still at its infancy. Had he had time to relax, and just learn new things, he woulda been even better than he was. With headbutts, very hard...

Can we talk about how competitive Jack was rolling with Gilbert Burns?

Burns was just tired, once ur tired, everything looks sloppy, besides, so many elite bjj guys lack the secret sauce on the ground for some reason. It’s ironic how Ortega is one of few that pulls off submissions in MMA better than most World Champs or ADCC medalists.

*** Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou Aftermath Discussion MEGA THREAD ***

Oil sheiks need to be entertained, unfortunately. His corner should have stopped it after the 2nd knockdown for sure.

Ngannou leaving the UFC for boxing

Ngganou got paid and didn't have to be degraded by Pink Goof to get it. Getting KTFO by an elite boxer is not shameful.

Media Nate Diaz Calls Daniel Cormier a "B*tch Not a Fighter" and Daniel Cormier Fires Back..

But Nate never been Olympic level at anything. He's had some good moments but he's never been that dude. I get what you mean, and how Nate sees it, but I think Nate should just STFU, and I like dude.

No version of Volk beats Topuria

Yeah, outcome and ability aren't the same thing. Obviously, Ilia has technique, but I argue Volk is better overall at striking but lacks power and has to punch upward.

Alijamain Sterling is right re: BJJ

Without striking, the guy on the ground has an advantage over top guy, which, in absolute battle would not happen. Being on the ground, instead of your feet, having your center-line exposed to be stabbed, trampled or smashed is something ju-jitsu experts of 450 years ago, tried to avoid. Just my...

Alijamain Sterling is right re: BJJ

I don’t believe anyone should enter anybody’s guard unless they want, but expecting someone to do anything in a martial art is crazy. Yes, it’s a sport, but the train of thought reminds me of Royler Gracie asking fighters to enter his guard instead of forcing them. Kinda like asking someone to...

Alijamain Sterling is right re: BJJ

A truly well-crafted analogy. Excellent way to demonstrate the lunacy of non-penalized guard pulls.

Alijamain Sterling is right re: BJJ

Respectfully disagree, I see martial arts as symbolic, you can KO someone who has full guard on you, we see this in MMA, so passing guard shouldn’t be required, whereas pulling guard in a real life fight is just poor tactics, unless you’re fighting a complete newb.

Bro, I'll be first to admit that I thought Fury would humiliate Francis, and I'm a huge Ngannou fan.

    DC wants Islam vs McGregor.

I think Islam would toy with Conor… The height, threat of kicks, impeccable takedowns plus the SOUTHPAW stance? Conor would be humiliated. His Southpaw advantage and countering style would be shut down by the patience and well-roundedness of Islam.

PBP UFC 294 - Makhachev vs. Volkanovski 2 Main Card PBP Discussion: Sat 10/21 at 2PM ET / 11AM PT

Yeah, overall it was a crappy event. It lacked real drama, which was weird because the main event had a TKO. It's because everyone came in thinking it was gonna be a war like the first time Islam and Volk squared off.

PBP UFC 294 - Makhachev vs. Volkanovski 2 Main Card PBP Discussion: Sat 10/21 at 2PM ET / 11AM PT

That head kick has always been there, in the first fight, Islam threw it, Volk blocked it, but was slightly wobbled, for whatever reason, Islam didn't go back to it. Then Javier probably looked at the footage and said, yeah, let's go a little higher, above the guard, it will still rock his skull...

Yall think Leon makes it look easy against Colby?

It would not be a stretch for Colby to blanket Leon for a few rounds. Obviously, inactivity is never good.

Yall think Leon makes it look easy against Colby?

I don't like Colby at all, but he is a very legit fighter, with a well-rounded skill set and good cardio. He's a tough out for a lot of people.

Alexander Volkanovski Doesn’t Want To Test Islam Makhachev’s Gas Tank

100% believe this. Yes training camps help, but IMHO Volk has gifted gas, meaning he can go 5 rounds but instead of throwing say 80 strikes a round, he’ll only throw 50…. That type of thing.
