Question about TJ takedowns - I saw the fight in a bad quality so not sure about those:
1.
Was he feinting with his hand prior to the takedown attempts or what was that ?
2.
Were those regular double leg takedowns or some other flavor of this technique ?
Specifically, was his front knee on...
I like James Toney punching technique - beautiful, short punches on the inside. Great counter right - that one is a killer punch. Very tight and compact body punches - both as counters and on attack. Great jab - to the body and head - when he was younger and leading more.
Great sparring ! Both looked very solid.
Daijon is a southpaw, right ? If yes - why haven't you tried to make him to pressure his opponent a little bit ? It looked like his opponent is quite gifted athletically (and also good technically). So once he has a space to move and time to plan - it...
Yes, exactly ...
In amateur boxing you can spot a good fighter by that kind of movement even before any punches were thrown ...
It is the most common defense and setup for offense at the same time. The opponent attacks - you bounce a bit out of range and make him miss then counter. Or you...
IMO, there may be even more problematic situation. They may not just "avoid the fight" and not let you hit them. They can actually occasionally hit you, while you will not be able to touch them at all. Meaning, you will logically lose the fight on points in such theoretical situation. There is a...
IMO, for athletic and fast guys this is a very good thing to be able to do. Boxing stars who are fast - when they go that route - they are almost impossible to catch. Even on the highest level. Say, guys like Mayweather in his earlier fights, Bradley etc.
Watch this guy for example - does that...
IMO, those things help Machida greatly to KO his opponents:
1.
Usually he catches them on their mistakes when they are in a bad positions to defend - out of balance, after missing shots etc. Every punch that connects in such situation has more solid effect.
2.
His timing - even for somebody...
IMO, it would be good for creators of such videos to mention where they got their inspiration from.
There are quite a few reasons to that.
1.
It is simply to give the credit to the original source.
2.
Most of the chances, the creator of the video is
not in any kind competition with the coach...
I think it is not 100% correct. Though the concepts in his video are not new (i.e they were already mentioned in quite a lot of videos\threads here) - the guy clearly has a good eye. And he depicts quite a lot of interesting moments that show the application of those principles. That in itself...
GGG's is not fast at all IMO - probably his power is more of a product of genetics, technique and mindset.
He is slower than Alvarez, Jackobs, Lara etc - both on single punches and combinations.
About the pressure/distance/volume - I also paid attention to it.
What do you mean by a false target ? Also what do you think Ike should have done to deal with the body jab better ?
