He had walked into a counter elbow earlier, so he was either using the clinch to sort himself out and left himself open or he was still dazed and was a sitting duck.
He's kinda like Werdum. It looks sloppy and ineffective but is actually decent enough to have finished people. Also like Werdum his striking will only get better as he sharpens it while the fear of his ground game buys him room for error.
Tony had the more impressive win when you consider that he has the skill and pedigree to use the same exact plan as Khabib and Lee but just went to war instead.
It'll be interesting to see when (if) someone forces Tony to use his wrestling to win.
Duke let Pettis sit through 25 minutes of RDA and got absolutely shit on for it. Also wasn't there another regional fighter of his that wound up dying?
I don't think he could afford letting Anthony go out there to feed a hungry Ferguson that already saw Anthony's best.
Pettis has little to no boxing by even MMA standards. Not to mention the lack of power in his hands. Only person he's legit rocked with his hands was an old Gilbert.
Hooker has never gotten an easy fight. Gets matched with killers each time out.
Beating Diakese was huge and definitely nice to see. He was keeping him out of range and when Diakese got desperate he cinched a beautiful guillotine.
Forrest got that one for sure. Didn't he get a 10-8 for having Page mounted a whole round? It might have just been top control but I thought Forrest achieved mount at some point.
It's so sad when larger sports have to give MMA a leg up with lame shit like this. Makes the sport seem so small.
But hey they're bigger than soccer right Dana?
