No one under the age of 18 should be teaching anything. At most a 17 year old should be an assistant. That video needed greater mediating to prevent the monologues that developed. Rener needed a greater challenge against the points he was making.
The vast majority don't take up BJJ to engage in high level competition. one might even ask if BJJ should actually be about that in the first instance.
Just to mention, but from the English version of the Carlos Gracie biography, George Gracie would have been one heck of a man to learn BJJ from. I still say his is the great untold Gracie story.
I suppose it could be argued that if your BJJ doesn't resemble Royce in early UFC, then you are merely engaging in a vigorous form of calisthenics and not true self defence.
