I align with you on a ot of things. I agree there isn’t a pill for everything. And it’s negligent how the medical community ignores the importance of diet. But there’s a place and time.
Modern medicine has serious flaws. But it’s still can be extremely effective.
Staph/MRSA is a real...
Would disagree that your gi gets more sanitized in a dryer than outside. The suns uv rays kill bacteria more so than the heat from a dryer.
There was a while where I noticed my rahguards weren’t spring fresh out of the dryer. Air drying actually took all the smell out.
Of course it’s not humid...
4 years into bjj cold wash, and hang dry. Sometimes hours after training cause I train in the AM and go straight to work.
Never had a rash or ringworm. Never smells
Of course less germs the better, but not everything has to be up to ansurgery clean room standard. Just wash every time and...
I am that person. But thing is I still dieted carefully and made sure to make weight. I was on a strict diet and working out a lot to make it. Even though I am a hobbyist with a full time job etc.
In my observation, no matter how small the tournament people who actually sign up and train for...
2lbs isn’t any real advantage. But the rules should be respected. A lot of people work hard to be on weight and I don’t think it’s fair to let it slide.
Something to be said that the rest of his competition could have woken up that morning 2lbs over and worked to sweat it off and he didn’t...
One thing I want to contribute to this thread is that the options aren’t, train full time or pursue a bachelors.
I would agree with others that there is enough time in the day to build a career and train full time.
Building a career could mean a lot of things outside pursuing a bachelors.
I don’t know, I’m a hobbyist and rarely compete. From my perspective I just couldn’t understand conceding in competition. I would totally compete against my teammates if it shook out that way. And I’d expect the more junior team mates to compete against me and give it their best.
Yeah I agree some of the big names have enough demand they can charge that much. And I’m happy for them. But for me personally I feel like I would get more improvement from several privates with my regular coach than one private with a big name
Yeah I make a lot of jokes about guard pull being one but they are just jokes. I agree with a previous poster that the guard(all the not exclusive to) is the signature position in BJJ.
We all have experienced some dangerous guards, and that’s part of it.
So I don’t agree that we should change...
Yeah I have had people put in some super tight lockdowns and it really hurt. Felt like my knee was hyperextending. And I was making a point to not just brute force my way out
What’s really key to following up with a key pass is keeping your grip on their arm. As they fall down use it to pull yourself up. So you move in tandem, as the go down you move up. This and posting your arm down to stop them from bringing a knee in should give you a clean route to pass.

I think people are assuming what’s most entertaining than what’s most likely.
I have people I like to drill with that I’m not attracted to. I even have people I like to drill with that I wouldn’t even want to hang out with after class.
Just really depends.
Before I competed I watched a lot of competition footage and made a point to make sure I did some stand up rounds going hard first so I knew what I was getting into.
It’s reasonable for a coach to say “hey I am organizing a tournament please come!”.
And the students should still take it upon...
