The fact that "following WADA standards" to you means "involving WADA in 100% of your drug tests, sending them to accredited WADA labs, waiting for WADA to send you the results back, and letting WADA dole out punishments for infractions" shows how much you proved my point.
"Following WADA...
I'd like to see them bring in top-20 SW Gilbert "Cangaceiro" Dias to the card.
He's been the top SW in Brazil for a long time, a two-divisional Shooto Brazil champion (115 and 119, not concurrently), very well-rounded and physical, and he has world-class Jiu-Jitsu.
An all-Brazilian fight...
It's not too surprising the person who's an anti-steroid :eek::eek: has to call me a shill, assume I'm getting paid by ONE to post on Sherdog a few times a month (lol) and condescend from a false moral highground when their arguments fail.
"Following WADA standards" has a lot of room for interpretation, it doesn't fit into your narrow definition, so your argument is invalid from the start.
Honestly, does steroid use really matter to you this much, or are you just looking for any reason to troll ONE?
Because ONE's been upfront about their lack of drug testing for at least 4 years now. Trying to spin this WADA thing-- when ONE literally admitted in the beginning they haven't...
Muin's ONE contract hadn't expired and he still had fights left on it, so the UFC contract was terminated.
It's pretty standard stuff. Bellator did the same thing with Rampage. The UFC does it all the time. It was Golden Boy Promotions' entire business model I think.
Besides, he's fighting...
ONE: "We're gonna begin following WADA drug testing standards at a later date, our athletes have been informed."
Incompetent MMA media months later: "Apparently, ONE isn't actually being officiated by WADA, they're just following their standards, and they haven't begun drug testing yet."...
I didn't write a bunch of stuff this time for the rankings themselves, but I wanted to get the rankings out before the big Shooto and Pancrase cards this month.
There's also a good fight between Jyo Arai and Takeru Uchida on the Shooto card this weekend. It might not seem...
I always wondered why the gym was called K'z.
2000 yen is like $180, right?
Seems kinda cheap for a 14-year old prostitute... maybe the dollar's just worth less in California.
Too bad that former Sherdog mod isn't here. He'd probably be able to clear a lot of this up.
I used to be a big fan of Kyoji and didn't care for Caldwell, then I became completely indifferent about Kyoji winning (this was after the Neil Seery fight), now I will enjoy watching Caldwell double-leg him against the cage while dodging guillotines for 25 minutes like he did to Taimanglo.
Overrated: Conor
Underrated: Eddie
Given the comparative love/hate that Conor and Eddie both get in the heavies (which reflects 90% of MMA traffic) with no regard for their accomplishments, there's nothing close.
I actually Really like the PFL's format and how they're sticking to their annual-tournament guns.
I just dislike the carried-over roster from the WSOF, lack of FLW, BW and MW divisions (their MW tournament was the only one I was interested in), use of LW WMMA in place of it, overuse of boring...
I only listed guys who hadn't fought in the UFC that were ranked in the top-10 for a while. So no Ogikubo. And I think Motoya got to the top-15 once before he got KO'd by Felipe Efrain...
Also, if you're interested in specific reasons on why I didn't list Motoya, Wada and Ogikubo (I considered...
The thing a lot of people don't realize about Urushitani-- and by "a lot of people" I mean "99% of the entire MMA community's journalists"-- was that Urushitani was about 5 years passed his prime by the time he got into the UFC.
If you're interested in Urushitani's form in his prime and have a...
In case anyone cares:
FLW: greats (up there with the best of the UFC)- Mamoru Yamaguchi, Shinichi BJ Kojima, Ryuichi Miki, Masaaki Sugawara, Junji Ikoma, Yuki Shojo, Alexis Vila, Robson Moura
lesser-greats (like solid top-10 fighters)- Yasuhiro Akagi (most exciting FLW ever, by the way)...
Mei Yamaguchi has a twitter and posts a lot about the weigh-in process. She's one of those twitter freaks because, bless her heart, she's in her 40s and single and her eggs are probably all gone, so she has to doubly devote herself to her (martial) art and her cats and her twitter and facebook...
That's the thing, King Mo's entire boxing style before Newton was hands down/100% head-movement for defense. And he actually has a lot of talent for that kind of boxing, which is why he was such a good fighter.
And that talent with boxing led to Newton landing his patented jab-backfist combo...
