PBP UFC 296 Edwards vs. Covington: Preliminary Card PBP Discussion - Sat. 12/16 at 6:30pm ET / 3:30pm PT

To be fair, one second of control time is control. It's enough to count it as a takedown.

UFC 300 is going to be a freakshow

UFC's business model post-Brock / Honda / Conor has been to build up cheap fighters and convince us they are the best. It's a promotion ($$$), not an amateur athletics association. Look at any undercard lately. Gone are amateur wrestlers from the U.S. Gone are crossover recruits from boxing and...

PBP UFC Fight Night 232 - Allen vs. Craig PBP Discussion: Sat. 11/18 at 2PM ET / 11AM PT

I don't know if I've ever posted anything this negative about a fighter, but that was a pathetic showing by Matthews. He was getting pieced up in a fight that, for Morales, was at the pace of a sparring match. He had no Plan B. No applying pressure, no kicks, no clinching, no takedowns. No...

Since 2000 the UFC hasnt had the best HW in MMA the majority of the time

The UFC business model is increasingly to sign cheap fighters from out of the U.S. and then build them up and convince us they're the best. If you don't think there are guys in M-1, Rizin, etc who could beat ranked fighters in the UFC, then you haven't been paying attention. Plenty of guys in...

Mma scoring needs half point rounds or 10-8 to be the most common score

You don't need half points. You already have a scale that gives judges ten points to use for each fighter. They don't need 20. They just need to use the existing options. A typical round should be 10-8. A one-sided round should be 10-7. A dominant round / near stoppage should be 10-6. Only very...

Were you impressed with Jack Della Maddalena's performance?

I disagree with this whole premise. For example, Leon Edwards had four straight decisions heading into the first Usman fight. It's hard to finish the top guys.

PBP UFC Fight Night 227 - Grasso vs. Shevchenko 2 PBP Discussion: Sat 9/16 at 7PM ET/4PM PT

Good fight. I had Grasso 3-2. I guess a draw is as good as a win when you are the champ.

Shev was the p4p best female fighter in the world for a while. But I think she's done.

PBP UFC 293 - Adesanya vs. Strickland: Main Card PBP Discussion: Sat 9/9 at 10PM ET/7PM PT

Yeah the problem with being a counterstriker is that it requires an opening. Sean left no opening, and Izzy didn't mix it up. It's hard to blame Izzy since he has been so successful in MMA, but in hindsight, maybe he should have trained a few other options. No grappling, no clinch game, no...

You could see in round one it looked like he ate a quarter pound of Adderall. Guy was locked the fuck in.

Different levels. Holy shit. Tai is still dangerous but yikes. He's trying to set up a leaping left lead hook but Volkov is fighting a great fight.

We need .gifs of DC's reactions to the f*gg*t drops. Just straight up walks away both times. <45>

He's not skilled. That was ironically the worst thing about the eye pokes and nut kicks -- they were unintentional. He's not a dirty fighter, just literally doesn't have the skill and is throwing shit out there.

That GnP ... wow. Tafa needs to go train wrestling and make it a point to make that part of his offense. That was brutal.

They mentioned the knee injury, but four years? Ouch. Botched surgeries indeed.

I like Mike, but yeah Laura is doing very well. It sounds like the mic is too close to her mouth and she sounds "boomy." Kind of a weird little thing you would think they would have fixed. Or maybe it's just me.

PBP UFC 293 - Adesanya vs. Strickland: Preliminary Card PBP Discussion: Sat 9/9, 6:30PM ET/3:30PM PT

It's kind of funny in an Orwellian way, because the truth is literally the opposite: "Upon review, the referee did not call a stop to the fight at 4:49 of the third round."

PBP UFC 293 - Adesanya vs. Strickland: Preliminary Card PBP Discussion: Sat 9/9, 6:30PM ET/3:30PM PT

I'm with you guys. He struggled when he was hit and had a hard time putting away a guy who is nowhere near a top ten fighter. His work rate was low and he struggled with cardio when the pace picked up. The top guys are going to hit him and push the action. Those are big red flags.

Either all these Australian women have nice cans or the cameramen are pervs, which I approve of.
