A lot of BJJ guys prefer open floor grappling as opposed to the cage because the cage stops a lot of transitions.
Glad to read this...I been lurking Sherdog since like 2008 as a high school Junior....I am African American...and at times the things people say on here really shocked me....to see people ..anonymous strangers on the internet hate Me or people who look like me because of skin color..is just...
This is something I hope to see more of in the Striking based martial arts community.
I feel like there are two things the grappling arts have done very well;
1. Creating highly detailed instructional by leaders in the field (Danaher, Hall etc.)
2. competition footage breakdowns to...
Wow, that's really impressive, I live in South Florida and have had some past teammates compete there, but I didn't know it had such a historic past! Cheers, wish you guys more success.
Yeah Gastelum would probably be my pick, due to the way he is able to vary the trajectory of his jabs. Sometimes he shoots it right up the middle in between his opponent's hands and other times he takes the outside angle and shoots it over his opponent's lead hand and shoulder. Good Pick!
I couldn’t agree more man. I think there is just so much information and details out there now, there already are blue belts that are better then older browns and purples for sure.
Good content, I am trying to figure out where leg pin passing fits into my game so I cant say I am using it yet, but I will keep this thread bookmarked.
Cheers.
Agreed, in boxing we are watching Tank Davis make a career out of circling to his opponent open side, the minute they over commit with a right hand, he steps back at an angle and lands a crazy counter punch.
Man to be honest I feel like Paquiao kind of wrote the book on being a shorter southpaw and dominating orthodox opponents.
- You can slip your head outside the jab and fire a straight left.
- Parry the jab and shoot yours over your opponents shoulder.
- If your fast enough you can even check...
I think you have a solid range of techniques. Those are the three that I use. I have always been wary of slipping to the inside and having a right hand connect as I slip. But maybe you can make it work.
Why exactly do you want more options, are the ones your using not working?
agreed. A tall man who commits to the jab and is trying to take my head off is scarier but much easier to deal with because I can counter him. A tall man who fully extends his jab and does not over commit is less intimidating to deal with BUT it’s harder to really get my game going lol
