Tyson says punching power is something you are born with

This is so fucking funny. but this comment is from 2008. It's crazy cuz back in 2008 we all still thought Mike Tyson was this crazy batshit insane guy. But he matured up so much in the last decade, having a zen/sage like presence, and even showing some vulnerable sides to him we never thought...

The notion about gym wars and CTE?

I've been sparring at an mma gym for quite a while now. each time I go, we spar different opponents rotating by rounds. Some guys are absolute killers, but know how to just spar technical and playful. Some guys, will literally brawl and try to knock you out. I had a few scuffles. I went from...

I was sparring with some mma guys and THIS happened

I'm only reflecting back on it now, days later. If I get a chance to see them I'll for sure ask them again. Thinking back, most of the guys went just medium, not too hard. There was one guy there who's apparently a blackbelt and he likes to punch and kick everyone hard. All the other guys were...

Thoughts on Bill Wallaces fighting style

bill wallace was exceptional. a talent, and he fought in full contact not by his own decision but he was pressured by his fellow peers who were the top fighters from point sparring that were transitioning to full contact. bill wallace is really good for mid to high kicks, I'll even say better...

I was sparring with some mma guys and THIS happened

i have a friend who is closely related to the owner of a well rounded and talented mma gym. the styles are predominantly muay thai and bjj, with some boxing and tkd. i went in and they went straight to sparring 8 rounds. first of all, i didn't know what to expect. but as soon as we started them...

Be Honest: Our shins not like buakaw?

Honestly, the best method available out there is to just in the heavy bag like 200 times a day or something. Everybody else is doing it; so how are people able to break baseball bats with their shin? Are they doing something else outside the commonly known methods? Let's be honest here, I am...

    Why aren't we all southpaws?

I do JKD and I love seeing orthodox guys struggle fighting against southpaw.

    Spar Critique (boxing only)

Uh how long have you been training in the fighting arts now? I dont feel like you are ready at all (to compete), taking too many shots to the head.

Which arts to teach a five year old? Muay Thai, kickboxing, or?

What's better, get your child obsessed with defense, head movement, combinations, awareness, consistency, "in the lab development," gyming, stretching, "researching other fighters," making other like minded friends like that, OR would you rather have a 21st century millenial degenerate, worried...

Which arts to teach a five year old? Muay Thai, kickboxing, or?

That's simply not true. They are frauds because of their lack of competitive fighter's spirit, and as a result, that makes them afraid and fraudulent in spirit. However, if they worked really hard and were consistently training to be a fighter in every sense, competing, sparring, and working...

Which arts to teach a five year old? Muay Thai, kickboxing, or?

Europe is super far! Are you in UK? I wish it were that easy man. Most people just play it safe and end up in teacher/instructor roles instead of getting gritty and fighting. I believe the best way to bring any art to light is to actually fight and compete. I don't know why, there's millions of...

Which arts to teach a five year old? Muay Thai, kickboxing, or?

I've sparred with thai boxers MMA fighters and BJJ guys many times and also other WC guys and through my experience I was able to successfully use it on all of them. I don't do pure Wing Chun I do JKD so our type of training is different anyway. I don't have videos but I would love to spar...

Which arts to teach a five year old? Muay Thai, kickboxing, or?

Hello I respect your statements and they are true, and some can be looked at alternatively. Most people don't realize UFC fighters are great fighters however they are not that great. Firstly, the early UFCs were more realistic but the pool/roster was rigged by Gracies, it is a big inaccurate...

Which arts to teach a five year old? Muay Thai, kickboxing, or?

Chinese arts in general are deep rooted in secrecy, and most of the decent Wing Chun guys I met were extremely casual, closed door type of settings. The good ones don't even compete, they do lots of secret stuff behind the scenes. Even my school, we do lots of stuff in secrecy. Actually, most...

Punching technique with boxing gloves vs MMA gloves?

Boxing isn't about "damaging your hands with each strike" as one may think. This isn't an "eye for an eye" deal where you punch out your hands in order to destroy an opponent. Mastery of the punching technique is to hurt others and not be hurt in return. I am no master at all, far from it as...

Punching technique with boxing gloves vs MMA gloves?

MMA boxing? Nonexistent, poor, sloppy and flailing haymakers and limited punches that is shamefully prominent in modern day MMA/UFC boxing? Yeah..... there's no such thing as MMA boxing imo. They can't box for shit. I punch with the heavy bag with MMA gloves the same way I would do with boxing...

Which arts to teach a five year old? Muay Thai, kickboxing, or?

Haha, no way. Not that kind. It's actually very useful as a supplementary art to complement one's boxing and kicking concepts. Not surprisingly, YouTube so far is flooded with some of the most awful examples of Wing Chun. I met a few good ones in person and it was a great and humbling experience.

Which arts to teach a five year old? Muay Thai, kickboxing, or?

Have the kid cross train in Wing Chun and Taekwondo. When he's a little older like 12 or 13, put him in muay thai. But have him be very dedicated in Wing Chun and TKD. Trust me, it'll pay off.
