8 inches from base of palm to top of middle finger.
4 inches wide at knuckles.
The 14 oz fits just right. A bit on the small size in therms of finger pocket lenght.
Are you talking about the new Rival heavy bags (the Mark 1) or the old ones (orange and black) ?
The "old" Rival heavy bags were made by Pro Boxing supplies and were fantastic. Dont know how good are the new Mark 1 tho.
The Prolast one look exactly the same as the Pro Boxing. So in all, I...
Ahhh the famous 12oz vs 16oz question lol
Lots of guys like to use lighter gloves for mitts and bagwork because its closer to the weight of fight gloves. But for some, 12 oz feels less protective and prefer to ise 14 or 16oz gloves on the bag.
I used to only use 14 and 16oz gloves for bag...
Mmmmmm good question. Both gloves are fantastic. If you want a snuggier hand compartment, go with the Aliens as the BGV9s have a pretty wide hand compatment. I am pretty shure REYES also have a wide hand pocket.
Both will give you a very satisfying pop on the bag. In the end, it all...
The BGV9 is a fantastic glove in therm of comfort, protection and feedback. The only negative, for me, is it has too much wrist protection. The wrist is like a cast lol.
The Aliens are also great and offers superb protection and feedback, but they have a smaller hand compartment and the...
Look up McKenzie Method. Thats what saved me when I got my herniated disc and sciatic nerve pinching. I did the "cobra stretch" several times a day for a long long time.
Be patient and try not to stay too long on the meds. Also, ice the area several times a day for 10-15 min every 2...
The bag will move less and you will be able to throw heavier punch. So good for punching power.
But, it will be a bit harder on your joints. Thats why I prefer 115-130lb bag. But the density of the bag will also play a huge role.
Usualy a 6 foot thai bag will be between 100 and 150lb. It depends on the brand. Stay away from Everlast unless you get the super leather one at 600$ +.
You cannot go wrong with Fairtex or Ring to Cage.
Ringside and CSI (ringside sub brand) should also be fine.
I really enjoy the versatility of the Fairtex BGV1. Yes they lack a grip bar, but I just make one with the wrap on my palm. No issue with making a fist so far. They are great for bag, pads and sparring as well.
They have some breathabke models with a grip bar as well.
Top Boxer Aliens are...
C-17 have a great reputation, but if you have big hands, they might be a bit small. Also, lots of quality control issus. Still, they are great gloves.
But for knuckles protection, there is better options at around same price.
If you are looking for great knuckle protection, Hayabusa are really good.
Also, any IMF or MIM type of foam (aka: Rinside or Ring to cage (exept c17)) will do.
If you dont mind, Twins gloves offers fenomenal protection.
