Have been seeing a steady increase in US style loud shouty zero sum game team politics. Still a long way from actually being a thing, but IMO it's a major concern and something I very much hope we steer away from

This is an excellent take and very similar to how I feel.
Still a great movie well deserving of it's praise, I still enjoyed the fuck out of it, but I can't help but wonder about some of the choices made.
Highly enjoyed, and was intrigued by the things they chose to include, change or discard, but overall i found the first film to be slightly more compelling
They'll do the 2nd book (Dune Messiah) but leave it at that. The stuff that follows goes batshit insane at times
