BJJ school near me not accepting drop ins?

There’s a gym in my area that is similar, they only allow drop ins if you are from the same affiliation, also don’t allow their students to train outside their affiliates as well

Media Conor McGregor clearly on something...

Conor boxing Canelo would end with Conor in a coma and life altering brain damage

Is the UFC fight pass worth it grappling wise?

Yep, lots of good events, and the quality beats flograppling imo

Should we get rid of belts in bjj?

I don’t think so, at least for competitive reasons, it allows people to test themselves against people who in theory are at the same level. Without belts you’ll get people who are a few months into training vs someone who has 10+ years.. that said if you don’t compete it shouldn’t be that big...

How common are injuries to beginner BJJ practitioners?

No more common than experienced grapplers imo, all depends on your training and who your training with. That said my two most serious injuries happened at blue (small rotator cuff tear) and purple(currently dealing with a torn meniscus)

How good Brian Ortega's bjj actually is?

He’s got great bjj for mma and he’s very opportunistic, Kron still has superior pure bjj, but decided he was a boxer vs Cub lol

    Imposter Syndrom and switching gyms

Just explain to the new professor, and it’s really the belt thing isn’t that big of a deal, most gyms differentiate between competitors and hobbyists, it’s pretty common for younger purple belts to be able to beat non competitive black belts

If you can't put hooks in from turtle you can do this to get to the truck...

Saw something similar into a calf slicer about 2 years ago, it was pretty slick, definitely gonna drill this though

If Poirier versus Diaz is a 5 round fight, who wins...?

Dustin cruises to an obvious 50-45, Nate slaps Dustin once in the 5th and all his fans claim it was a close fight and Nate was one more round away from finishing him

Covid's impact on your BJJ ...

Me and some friends opened up our own gym, so we have nothing to compare it to, but things are going great, all the competitors from the previous gym switched over to our gym, and in what will be just our third month open, it looks like we will break even for the month which is better than we...

Problem with an unwanted drilling partner

Does everybody else always seem to pair with the same person? I’d just say I prefer to drill with different people every class as I feel that would be more beneficial to my overall improvement… which is also not a lie

Media Myth : Khabib a natural WW, a huge LW ...nope.

He’s the same size as most LW, he’d be successful at WW, but he’d definitely be undersized. The people that say he should have been at WW and call him a weight bully only say that because they dislike him but he leaves so little to criticize fight wise that that is the best they got

    AJ McKee the perfect example.

Would’ve loved to have these UFC fanboys around when Chuck fought in the Pride MW Grand Prix lol

    My post-Covid grappling dilemma

Go to where the Blackbelts are, when it comes to self defence or an actual fight most of what you would need to know is pretty basic. And just because it’s a competition based gym, doesn’t mean you have to build your game that way

Does Islam get a title shot with an impressive dominant win over Moises

Talent wise he’s definitely champ material, but his resume doesn’t earn it, it’s kinda like Khabib years ago, all the fighters knew how good he was but not enough fans did so no one would fight him except for guys who didn’t have any pull

Why should Dustin give him a 4th fight?? how can someone just get a TS after coming off 2 losses

If Poirier loses to Oliveira, why not do the 4th fight immediately. If Poirier wins the belt though, Conor should have to beat 2 top ranked opponents to get it… let’s face it though, we all no if he doesn’t get the immediate shot, he’ll fight some washed up fighter that of course he’ll beat and...

"That's one more fight than you'll ever win"

Lol media members act unprofessional kissing McGregor’s ass nonstop so much that it makes his press conferences embarrassing and his stans say nothing now a guy gets a rise out of him, saying nothing that’s not a fact, and suddenly they are butt hurt crying about a media member being...

Any chance Conor wins a decision ?

I don’t think he’ll survive 5 rounds, he probably gets finished before then, but if he did I wouldn’t be shocked if he was gifted a decision, even if Poirier beats him pillar to post

Conor starts checking the low kicks, how does Poirier win now?

Yeah the calf kicks were a factor, Poirier had Conor’s timing figured out and was out boxing him. McGregor has to do a lot more than just check calf kicks to change the outcome
