Could it be, that the more advanced the sport becomes, the less size advantage matters?

Generally speaking, the more advanced and mature the sport gets, the smaller the margins will be. With smaller margins, details become more important. Take for example cardio heavy, classic sports like track and field, marathons, cross country skiing and similar... Good technique and getting...

ONE Championship Folayang vs Aoki 2 A New Era Live from Japan March 31, Discussion.

No way they paid him to lose. That would be the biggest waste ever, both for Eddie and One. If they were to fix a fight they would have pushed him through to the finals.

Tony most likely should never fight again.

Training and fighting professionally are two very different things.

Tony most likely should never fight again.

Whether it's due to brain damage, substance abuse or mental illness, he really shouldn't focus on MMA right now. He needs to focus on getting better, and on his family. Being a professional athlete can be incredibly demanding mentally, and the stress of not knowing where you will be in a few...

    Herb Dean screwed Lawler

Hindsight is 20/20. While watching I was worried that Robbie was already suffering brain damage. Herb Dean made the right call at the time, even though the result was wrong. It's better to take the safer choice.

Remember when people said Askren was better than GSP and Khabib? *** laughs

Askren wanted to show how good he was and became overconfident against a very dangerous fighter. He recovered from a situation in a way that very few could have (Khabib, and who else?). I for one was very impressed by Askren and the way he came back.

Which fighter has the most draws?

There's quite a few Japanese fighters from the 90's with 10+ draws, but I don't know of anyone with more than Osami Shibuya at 17. For western fighters, I think Jeremy Horn is up there with 11. The reason you get so many in early Japanese MMA is of course because some organisations had a fight...

Fedor Emelianenko's record in promotions where the referees didn't have earpieces ...

Not to mention that Fedor never was a good sell. He's not from a major market, he is good at or at least happy with speaking English or Japanese, he doesn't seem larger than life (ala Bob Sapp or similar) and he does very little to promote fights. He really only showed up to fight, kicked butt...

    Remembering Fedor vs Maldonado

Having watched a few times by now, I would have expected a majority draw. Anyone that thinks it should have been a decision for Maldonado is just not objective. If you score the second round a 10-9 for Fedor, the first can not be more than a 10-8. 10-7 would just not be feasible, since you would...

Aleks Emelianenko vs Tony Johnson fight

Thanks for posting! Johnson is no scrub, but it seems like we've found seen hints of the limits of Aleks potential at this stage in his career. A wrestler with even half-decent takedowns and he's in trouble.

UFC on FOX does record-low ratings despite promise of great fights

Remember, it's not just about the popularity of MMA or the UFC. I mean, who even watches TV in 2018? They need to get a deal with Netflix, and quickly.

Fedor vs Bigfoot II - who win today

Fedor would win. Sure, they are both way over the hill, but there is a huge difference between them. Fedor is 6-4 in his last 10, which includes all of his losses and the lowest point of his career. At this point it seems like Fedor might end his career in a respectable manner. Bigfoot is 1-8...

    Why Couldn't Brock beat Overeem?

Lesnar is basically the wrestling version of Bob Sapp. If he can't just overpower his opponent with brute strength he basically quits. Same thing happened against Carwin and Cain... The question is really how he could win against Mir (Couture was too small and old, and Hunt never had an answer...

    Well it's Official, UFC=WWE

I can take the theatrics... That's just selling a fight. What I just can't believe is a guy that hasn't had a decent win in 9 years (Mir 2) and who only has 3 decent wins in his whole career (Herring, Couture and Mir, two of whom have been retired for ages and one that should be) get a title shot.

Do you believe Ngannou is older than he claims to be?

He claimed he was 26 when he migrated to France, but if he was gonna fake his age for asylum reasons he would have to have been younger than that. Migrants that fake their age generally pretend to be in their mid-teens while actually being 20 or so. Faking 26 wouldn't really amount to anything...

You have $10. Pick 3 MMA fighters that you would want to have your back in a street fight

Fedor - Good cardio, speed and power and has sambo and military training. Calm and collected, unlikely to make mistakes. Bas - probably the guy with the most documented experience Also - tough, versatile and from a background pretty much perfect for a tough street fighter

    Sergei Kharitonov fights today

The Kharitonov-Vyazigin fight? Has it happened already? Can you tell us how it ended, in spoilers?

This confirms it - Fedor had never lost before his retirement

Not gonna say that you don't have a point, but jeez... Chill a bit wit the nuthugging.
