For the most part, my thumb issue has worked itself out simply using them on the heavy bag (as I prefer a more slender glove when sparring).

Ringside sells (or has sold in the past) the Polyform bouy, which comes with a nozzle to attach to a hose for filling. The hold may be small, but a quick poke with a screwdriver quickly opens up the filling hole for inflation/deflation.

For what it's worth, I've noticed that some of the stock blue colored gloves have varied in terms of lighter/darker in the past. Fortunately, when they arrive its always a perfect match.
