    Unleashing The Beast Within

Still at it. Congrats on the 150 clean. Your training looks a lot like mine... rape the shit out of the weights for a few days once every few months, then dwindle in mediocrity for a long time because everything hurts.

    Squatting 495 in 2016

In. BW: 212 lbs Squat: 440 lbs -- new PR as of 2 days ago. Sleeves, nylon belt, ATG. Old PR was 435, which I had hit a while ago with around 10 extra lbs of bodyweight. I'd like to get 5 plates well before the end of 2016.

How fast can you run 5km?

I was pretty proud to hit 5k in 30 mins the other day. This thread just shit all over my accomplishment.

Is Heavy Strength Training Important for Team Sports? V.2

I agree. I don't think any team sport athlete ever got worse at their sport through strength training. I can't imagine a scenario in any sport where being stronger than you once were is a detriment. In a sport like basketball, the ability to stand your ground, hold onto the ball, go up...

Jesse Norris just totaled 2032@198 (766/440/826)

Because the conversation on page 10 is identical to the coversation on page 1. It just goes in circles. "He's on roids.. I know it.. he's beating everyone that's not tested." "Prove it.. niche sport.. genetic outliers!" No meaningful discussion has taken place. Dig your heels in and prove...

Jesse Norris just totaled 2032@198 (766/440/826)

10 pages of dudes arguing about whether a powerlifter is on PEDs or not... what exactly are we trying to accomplish here? I feel dirty for having read most of it.

Optimal Weight/Set/Rep Range For Functional Gains

I don't know if it's so easy, especially once you get to higher levels of strength. You can spend 6-7 sets building up to your working sets. Some of those warm-up sets can be ~10 reps and some can be singles. Everyone has their own thing. Some people program everything out. I tend to wing...

Optimal Weight/Set/Rep Range For Functional Gains

This place is so fucking gay at times because everyone turns into a whiny bitch about shit... just like you.

    Westside opinions

If he lifts for himself, then I'm certain he doesn't give a shit what anyone thinks about his lifts. If a dude bowls a 300 in practice or shoots a 10 under par or whatever, it's just not the same thing as doing it on command when the pressure's on, but you're right... he doesn't have to step...

I was referencing the bands/chains themselves moreso than the Westside method, which I don't even know. I don't remember the first time I read it or where I read it, but I've read a couple different instances of bands and chains improving lift #s where #s were supplied in the article. This...

    The (DYEL Status) Pub

Not by any means. I do think that the NFL is the most athleticism driven sport on the planet, so most of the focus is on being a well-rounded athlete. There's a high level of skill involved, but skill isn't the center of the sport like it is with many other sports throughout the world. If the...

    routine check? boring post.

I don't know exactly how i'd structure the workouts for a football player, but I know for sure there wouldn't be three variations of bis, tris, and abs. You can cut that down to one each.

I forget which video it was, but Keosawa has a video on his Youtube channel detailing exactly this. Paraphrasing here, but you want to slowly introduce new stimulus instead of all at once to maximize the benefit from each stimulus. I don't personally follow this advice, but it definitely makes...

    The (DYEL Status) Pub

Mir was my original favorite fighter as my first exposure to UFC was watching him jack up Tim Sylvia. I'd like to see him stop before he gets pummeled again.

    The (DYEL Status) Pub

I don't care much for sensationalized articles that try to extrapolate 40 times from other shit. A lasered 40 time is the only thing that qualifies. And tons of NFL players made the leap at a later age, some of them not playing until college or later, debunking the idea that you need to start...

    I like to Lift

I'm a bit of an exception in that I've never seen anyone consistently bench as narrow as I do. I just figured I'd throw it out there to give you an idea... you might dig it. Obviously my chesticles are lacking.

    Westside opinions

Not speaking for the OP here, but I know a lot of people who get bored of the squat/bench/deadlift progressive overload method and want to just do something else to spice shit up. I get asked all the time, "Don't you get bored??" (of snatch, C&J, squat). The answer is no, but I can see how the...

    I like to Lift

1/4" from the start of the knurling. I hate gripping anything wide, and in the case of the bench press it's for the reasons you mentioned. Shit stays in place, elbows stay tight, less chance of injury.

There's data that shows its efficacy, but depending on your experience level, it may or may not be worth it. I personally don't do it. There are also instances where the use of bands can fuck up the mechanics of your lift.. I think Brandon Lilly had this problem.
