Is the difference in the hand compartment or just the weight and amount of padding? I am looking at finally getting a pair of dedicated pad/bag gloves that offer good protection so am seriously looking into the bgv9’s. I would like to get them lighter at 12oz but some have said the hand...
They are available almost everywhere that sell Fairtex gear at 16oz and often in various colours, however yellow with black palm seems to be the most common version on ebay.
At my lowly level, those events can also stretch to using their ill sized shin pads and headgear, which have already been used many times that day! :rolleyes:
You bring up an excellent point Woldog and I agree szie is not the only issue when considering sparring safety, especially when we have models like the BGV9 being so popular. Certainly different glove models produce different sparring experiences, however I was talking specifically about one...

I too am looking at getting a new mouthguard.
Currently using Shock Doctor Gel Max which is OK, but hoping for something a little more compact.
Considering going with a GameDay Extreme mouthguard that are custom moulded via post in Australia...
I have also been looking at the 12oz BGV9's for bag/pads and I currently use Boon 16oz. What size Boon were too small inside for you? I find the 16oz Boon's rather big inside, but they may be smaller if they are 12oz?
I have a pair of 16oz Boon gloves (current edition) that I use for all my training (sparring and pad/bag work) but would like at least get a pair of smaller 12oz gloves for pad/bag work, and perhaps even another pair of sparring friendly 16oz. These will be used for pad/bag work and Muay Thai...
