I just got a pair of their new “Retro” Model. It’s made with old school welt stitched seams. I got these in 16 oz. and the hand pocket is perfect; not too big, not too small. My older non Retro model had the big hand box but were still stable for full house shots. These are even better! Highly...
Really like my leather pwerlocks. They have got to be the most comfortable gloves right outta the box. Best feeling padding on knuckles when smoking in some full house shots. Would be my all time fave if the foam didn’t break down so fast! 3 short months has shown definitive compression with a...
Agree not bubbles. When I got my pairs they all had dimples/depressions from being packed tightly in the box. They all went away. Bubbling is caused by little crumbs of foam breaking away from the main pad. The foam they use is very high grade and shows no signs of wear after my initial break in...
As of now yes. My Cleto’s are not really broken in yet though. The Cleto’s thumb is my biggest gripe. The piping at the base of the thumb are uncomfortably tight. It’s slowly stretching though and honestly can’t tell till it is fully broken in and comfortable.
The Reyes finish is a lot more...
I paid $330.00 for 3 pairs shipped. The shipping was $80.00. For single pair they quoted me $60.00 shipping.
I purchased them directly from New Sporting. They were shipped to my home state, Hawaii
Ok I got the New Sporting mitts in and it now sits on the top of my list (12oz.). I just hit bag and pads as my sparring days have long passed lol. The hand pocket is perfect and you can make a good fist. The thumbs are ok and not overly tight on the base piping like Reyes. Wrist support is very...
I just got my order in from New Sporting. I ordered 3 sets of 12 oz gloves (1 for me and my 2 sons) for heavy bag and pad work.
The materials appear very good.
The leather is thick but grainy. Not as fine as say Reyes or Casanova. The welt construction is a plus.
Stitching is very good on all...
The piping sure looks like leather to me. Looks like my set. Plastic piping is very evident as my Casanova’s are. Night and day compared to Reyes. I think you’re mistaken.
Yes that is the million dollar question. Unfortunately only you can assess that as it takes product in hand to evaluate. Leather can be surprisingly resilient once it has been rehydrated so to speak. Trust your judgment.
Yup real deal. Reyes leather has a very unique smell to them. I can walk in a room and zero in on a set of Reyes gloves as fast as a Drug Beagle to a load of contraband lol. The smell is way better than my Fairtex BGV9 which smelled like paint. Oh and it’s gonna take more than a week to break in...
How’s the foam and interior of the glove? That’s how you can tell if it’s a high mileage set. If they are as described in excellent shape then it’s a cosmetic issue that you need to ask yourself if you can live with.
1) Fairtex BGV9 14oz.
2) Casanova lace up 14oz.
3) Cleto Reyes hook & loop 16oz.
The Fairtex is a super glove and is my top pick to date.
The Casanova’s would be #1 if the hand box wasn’t so large. I can make a good fist with these and put a full house shot with no fear of any pain lol...
I have these in 16 oz. and they feel like they are about 18oz. Conservatively. It’s pretty common for these to run heavier than labeled. Might want to keep this in mind. Oh these were super tight on my medium sized hands. I couldn’t get my hands in with wraps on. After several sessions on the...
