Is there such thing as a unhealthy veggie or fruit?

Simple sugars (fructose) in fruit aren't much different chemically than the ones found in processed table sugar (sucrose). Bascially, its sugar. The thing with grapes is that you get some vitamins, antioxidants, and fiber with it...and possibly some other nutrients. But the overriding...

Refrain from Smoked Foods (Especially Fish)

I have read similar things about BBQ. I can't give up BBQ, but I've been grilling things lightly and trying not to char anything.

    Whats up! Intro/diet help!

Set realistic goals for yourself and stick to your plan. Don't do too much at once. If you can eat right for 3 months, that right there is a great start. AFter that, you might want to look into fat burners. Keep in mind that even the best fat burner supps will help you for maybe 5-10%...

    Too little calories?

I don't have any studies offhand. I'm going by what I have read...will post some links if I get a chance. My take on what I read was that the basic rule is exercise helps prevent muscle loss on calorie restrictive diets, but cannot totally prevent it.

    Too little calories?

If I were you, I would start the diet & exercise program at 2000Kcal/day, and adjust from there. When you hit a sticking point, adjust caloric intake and exercise intensity. When you shock your body by drastically cutting calories, it compensates by kicking off a starvation mode: -...

    Too little calories?

1200kcals: seems way to low for average young adult male or even female. You'll stand a chance of losing a lot of muscle with that too. How old are you? Weight and height?

    Public Sevice Announcement: Pseudoephedrine is...

I doubt they will ban pseudoephedrine. Nothing works better (IMO) for congestion. I didn't think pseudoephedrine had nearly the CNS stimulation effects of ephedrine. Subjectively, I feel almost no stimulation when taking psedo for a cold. Ephedrine, when I take it, has a noticable effect on...

Stop hating on Bodybuilding, you freakin' hypocrites...

Not including all the sterioids that bodybuilders commonly use....it is generally healthier to not carry excessive fat. It also helps you in [i]marketing[i/], as some have already pointed out....looking good and fit is a plus, at least for a professional, and especially in today's image-driven...

Lost 57lbs in 4 months... and still going.

Congrats Fret! Way to keep at it. 240...getting closer and closer to the goal. How is the weightlifting going? Adding that muscle mass will burn fat even when you are doing nothing :) Keep in mind that if you do start adding muscle, your weight loss will slow down because muscle weighs...

    Ken Shamrock = good Coach.

King, you make great valid points I will be sure to keep in mind as I watch this season. Now, I'm looking forward to what the "bodybuilder" does for Team Shamrock over the course of the season. The editors (at this time) want us all to believe this coach on Ken's team to be an out-of-touch...

    steak question

Hah - so right. Everytime I grill or broil a "London Broil" steak (top round?), unless I get the temp and timing just perfect, it can end up like old shoe leather. THEN, out come the condiments. Sometimes though, its excellent.

    Caffeine

I did read some articles recently that claimed that coffee (not just refined caffine) has significant antioxidants as well as other benefical effects (reduced incidence of diabeties, colon cancer, Parkinson's and other neurological diseases), not to mention measurable increase in metabolism...

    Veggies at every feeding??

Maybe I am missing out on some key nutrition habit, but I don't bother -- ever -- to eat veggies with breakfast. No desire for them at that time. Its usually some combo of oats or bran cereal, eggs, milk, fruits (strawberries or banana), and always coffee. I take my daily multivitamin at...
