Is it worth it to go back to college?

I'm an IT professional, have been for over 10 years, so maybe I can drop some info and insight from within the field. I personally do not have a college degree (started, but not finished). I never took any college courses for IT work. I did do an accelerated Systems Admin course when I was...

Aisle, Window, or Middle Seats in Airplanes? What do you pick?

Yup, as a young lad I preferred the window seats. Now the legs feel confined over by the window, plus you don't typically get an arm rest on the side next to the window. I'm an aisle guy now.

    What lawnmower do you use?

Honda self-propelled. It's solid. Never more than one pull on the cord to get going, even after a winter of sitting.

    Your Career and Education Level.

Some college, left a 4.0 GPA on the table because growing up poor and early life financial responsibilities. On my 2nd career now. Was a senior claims examiner for a major insurance company (hated my life and bad ceiling on promotion opportunity). Cashed out my 401k and did an accelerated IT...

What do you eat when you want to pig out and money is no object?

Loads of sushi from my favorite sushi joint or go for some damn good surf & turf.

who here has abandoned smartphones? edit: I took the plunge

As much as I'm on-board with disconnecting, I don't get to do that as an IT solutions engineer. I have to be reachable most of the time. That said, I'm not about to be sitting there replying to every email in my off hours. I'm working on better phone hygiene with my fiance as she knows it...

    Courage Under Fire (1996)...

Lol, I do recall that horrible accent. Was just too forced. Other than that though, great movie from my recollection. Admittedly, it's been probably at last 5-6 years since I've last seen it.

    Anyone bout that Bike Life

I ride a Trek xCaliber 8, but strictly for single track trail riding. It doesn't see pavement much if at all. This is what it looks like:

How are you doing for falling down this winter?

This season I'm batting a 1000 thus far. Last night I had on the wrong shoes though and slid on one foot a couple feet in a parking lot. That was my closest call this season.

Caps and snapbacks... Flat-brimmed or bent ?

I played baseball growing up and didn't wear a hat often in my 20's. Now I like rocking a non-sports related ball cap, but the bill must be bent to my personal specifications. It's a personal thing. I do not enjoy seeing all the flat bills and stickers on hats these days. Maybe that's just...

    The Equalizer vs John Wick

I don't even know how this is a comparison. I think a Man on Fire vs John Wick would be more appropriate if you want a imo good Denzel revenge movie with a badass comparison. I love Man on Fire, but John Wick was just so needed for the action genre, I can't choose something over it.

I'm getting enCaged! (UPDATE - Movie #9: Fire Birds)

Alright sir, I'll queue this up in the next week and report back. I feel like I may have already watched it, but I have no real recollection of it, so it will get a go on the home theater. Viva la Nic Cage!!

I'm getting enCaged! (UPDATE - Movie #9: Fire Birds)

Glad to be back! I'm still watching movies at a feverish pace, so I'm ready to chime in on whatever the subject material is. I found out about Shooting Sizemore when I was watching a different piece on him. I don't think I could handle watching a reality show with him overcoming that stuff...

I'm getting enCaged! (UPDATE - Movie #9: Fire Birds)

Fucking hell! I really liked 90's Sizemore, but yeah, he went down a rabbit hole of turpitude. I thought he got his act all cleaned up. It wasn't that long ago I saw a long interview with him, and while he looked a bit overtly eccentric, his eyes were clear and he looked driven.

I'm getting enCaged! (UPDATE - Movie #9: Fire Birds)

I really liked Family Man and Joe. Snake Eyes was decent for its era. It hasn't aged well though imho. Joe was some of Cage's finest work in the last 10 years for sure though I believe. I'm going to have to rewatch that sometime soon. Good to see this thread get updated @shadow_priest_x...

    My friend got jumped...

I'd imagine you're pretty safe then. Even with boxer fractures, it's just keep it wrapped and it'll usually get better on its own. Depending on your insurance situation, it may not be worth going for xrays if it's feeling better so soon. Glad it's healing up bro.

    My friend got jumped...

From the pic, I'm wagering no significant breaks. My hand was like 3x normal size when I snapped my 3rd metacarpal along with a few boxer fractures. That was nasty af and no has 4 screws and a titanium plate as a result. That's not to say it's not going to hurt like a mofo for a week or six...

Cameras catch over 12,000 speeders in 33 days

Also, I lived on a street with two schools. It was patrolled out the ass and that is totally good with me. I had to deal with people constantly being pulled over in front of my house, but it makes sense to closely patrol a 35mph zone that has two schools on it. If "safety for the kids" is the...

Cameras catch over 12,000 speeders in 33 days

Just chiming in that automated systems for speeding and red lights of the such are bullshit. One, it typically only captures the vehicle, not the driver. Almost if not all the red light cameras were ruled out in the past few years in STL and have been taken down. I don't condone reckless...
