I have spent more time than I care to admit grinding out a tourney, I can't do it anymore. You are right that the anxiety is a killer. Not worth it. I'd rather pay local tourneys with a $60 buyin and 8 hour time investment.

To be fair you can still get a 3rd party sponsorship deal in the UFC. You just can't promote them on the cards. But if you have a social media following you can still have sponserships. I would imagine a podcast advertising deal would pay the same as a PGA golfer who doesn't make the cut.

You aren't wrong, a lot of them earn a living as golf pros at their local course and giving lessons, being in tourneys just bolsters the image of the course and their ability to charge more for lessons. Which is true in MMA. But ya, there are a lot of rich shits in the PGA for sure.
