About to quit job and start Uni. full time - wanting advice/thoughts on side projects

The production value of your vids has to be high or else why will anyone watch over someone else's channel.

As for blogging, why anyone going to read your blog? You are quitting your stable job for that. You dont know if you will make any money at all. That is why risky.

What are you going to school for.

I'm going to school for political science and then possibly law once I get my undergrad.

Why would anyone read anyone's blog? For the content. I'm going to develop a few different niches and like I said, I'm a decent writer. I would promote to blog/website on my videos and on my instagram for the blog which already has 1.6k followers. I'm going to continue to grow the instagram manually (which is easy enough).

I'm not quitting my job to do this, I'm quitting my job to go to school full time and get good grades.

Hey sherbrahs!

So I'm getting ready to quit my job here at the end of december/beginning of january and attend university full time. I'm maxing out my student loans, getting a full pell grant and getting 1k$/month from the VA.

The reason I'm doing this is because I need the resources to acquire some gear that I'm going to use for side projects. I want to make the most out of these next two years in terms of pursuing online projects that may eventually generate revenue, instead of just pissing the time away partying.

So far here's what I want to do:
-I've already gathered about 2,000 followers on an instagram account that will eventually promote my blog once it's up.
-The main thing I want to do is start a lifestyle blog/vlog. I'm a good writer and want to write articles about a variety of different topics. I want to write about anything and everything: fitness, veganism, politics, lifestyle, environmental issues, whatever I want. On the website I want to also produce and edit videos covering the same things that I write about.
-The idea is to pour a serious amount of effort into the website and videos. Keep in mind I'm also going to be going to school full time but won't have any obligations outside of that. I think a good work rate would be two in depth articles/week and one well produced and edited video/week. Hopefully, at the end of the two years I will have built up a decent enough following that I can monotize everything: a patreon account, ads on the blog, and ads on the youtube content. If I could make it to at least $1,000/month from all revenue sources by the end of the two years, I will consider that success.

My question is this: what else could I be doing in this sphere to generate revenue?

I've considered starting a Twitch stream and actually putting a decent amount of production and effort into it, but honestly I think I need to leave gaming behind during this period to be my most productive. Gaming is just such a time sink and I don't think continuing to game while I go through this period would be the best idea.

The only other thing that I can really think of is to cross promote between the instagram account and the website and build the instagram following up to a significant level where it can be monetized and making decent revenue as well.

I want to make a kind of sub point here.
Here is why vlogging/blogging/online content creation is not over-saturated and still has a tremendous amount of opportunity in it:
Every year more and more people from the developing world are coming online.

I think it's easy to deduce that this means there is still a massive amount of opportunity for online content creation.

TL;DR:
-OP is starting uni full time in the spring and quitting job
-OP wants to pursue online content creation as much as possible and have a decent revenue stream at the end of the two years (when OP graduates)
-OP already plans to do youtube/blogging/vlogging and instagram
-What else can OP do in this realm to generate revenue?
-3 to 5 billion people will be coming online by 2020 which means there is still a great deal of opportunity for online content creation

Cam whores. Easy money, plus plenty of free P.

It would make far too much sense to actually get a part-time job or internship related to your major.
Yeah, why generate revenue from home doing something I enjoy doing when I could wage-slave instead?

Yes, planning for your future seems like such a bad idea. Keep doing what you are doing brah. Sounds like a recipe for success.

Lots of topics you can blog about since you're from Idaho. I know people have just been dying to learn about great Idaho topics such as...

It snowed today. There's bears out here. The girls all look like they're missing a quarter of a chromosome. My friend OD'd on meth. Kenny Rogers is playing at the Indian casino next week. My mom still has feathered hair. Remember Ruby Ridge? Truck nuts look good on my 78 Chevy. Dukes of Hazzard should still be in syndication. Carhartt for life. Best VCR brands. How my Yosemite Sam 'Back off!' mudflaps got me a gum job. My dad drives a forklift for KMart. Top 10 best gas station food for rock hard abs.

You sound bitter that you've been condemned to showing up to a job you hate for the rest of your life and you lacked the creativity to break out of that XD

You literally just had a post not long ago about how unhappy you are with your life. You are returning to school at age 26 due to this. Are you really "breaking out" of anything here? You are going to dick around even longer and hope to actually start something worthwhile in your mid 30's. You are going to school for a reason, right?

And you really don't want to start talking about what I am doing vs. what you are. Hint: I'm not working for a large corp

Good luck. Honestly undergrad should be easy enough that you can still work and make good grades, but if you can turn this into something worth while more power to you.

You know life changes, right pal? The post youre referring to was months ago. I was just generally unhappy with showing up to a shitty office job daily, as millions and millions of others are. I have only weeks left at that place, I've got a new girlfriend, I'm back in school making progress towards life goals (getting straight A's 3 semesters straight), I've got a new and much nicer ride, my room mate situation finally stabilized and I couldn't be happier with my home life right now. In just weeks I'll have freedom I haven't known since I was 19. Stop holding so much contempt for a young buck chasing his dreams and get off my jock.

You're making a blog/vlog and won't prioritize it on Sherdog or boise dimes? The hell's the matter with you?

I'd go back to school if I could. There are always opportunities for the top students in any subject, especially those who have the time to spare and willingness to put the work in. Worst case scenario you end up back where you started knowing you tried to do what you wanted.

Good luck.

Also, you could try guest-blogging for people with larger audiences.

I wrote a couple of articles for a friend's blog recently, and have been contacted by a few of his followers asking where I post my own stuff (stopped doing that years ago). That kind of collaboration can be fun and tends to stoke my creativity a little more as well.
