On Sherdog "Hack" basically means "A directors work I don't like" but really the definition is someone who produces low quality material to order on a tight timescale.

That's why I'd list TFA as a hack movie by JJ ABrams, he was brought in by Disney to come up with a scipt in a few months when Michael Ardnt wanted another year and to basically copy the style of his Trek films for Star Wars.
