https://www.mmafighting.com/2018/10...nt-averages-802000-viewers-with-dvr-additions

Saturday night’s Fedor Emelianenko vs. Chael Sonnen Bellator heavyweight tournament fight averaged 802,000 viewers for the course of the fight, peaking with 1,090,000 when including DVR viewership through Tuesday night.

Overall, Bellator 208 from the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, N.Y., averaged 521,000 viewers live and picked up another 83,000 viewers over the next three days via DVR viewership. DVR viewership of 16 percent is not unusually high for Bellator. It was thought DVR viewership would be above normal levels based on the heavy sports competition, with college football, major league baseball playoffs and the Terrence Crawford vs. Jose Benavidez boxing match on ESPN which was the most-viewed boxing broadcast on cable this year.

The Friday night show from the Mohegan Sun Casino, which featured Ryan Bader’s semifinal win over Matt Mitrione and a Sergei Kharitonov win over Roy Nelson in a non-tournament heavyweight fight averaged 493,000 viewers, including DVR viewership over the next few days. The positive is that it was Bellator’s highest-rated Friday night broadcast in the 18-49 demo since Bellator 176, a taped show from the U.K. on May 19, 2017, which was headlined by Rory MacDonald vs. Paul Daley from London.

That number was broken down a 416,000 viewers the night of the show and another 77,000 watching via DVR over the next three days, an 18.5 percent increase.

The Bader vs. Mitrione fight averaged 620,000 viewers including DVR viewership, peaking at 798,000.

The viewership numbers only include television viewership on Paramount, as DAZN does not report streaming numbers.

Bellator officials noted that 3.9 million people watched at least one minute of company television
programming between the two shows on Paramount.

So Fedor & Chael did decent numbers.
seems like the rest of the card didn't have a lot of viewers so the average was low.

Now thats more like it

the numbers don't seem that bad now but could improve obviously

MMA ratings are low as a whole. Look at Alvarez/Poirer on Fox bombing.
Public is not that interested
A Chael/Fedor fight doing under 1m would have been absurd 2 years ago, but it is the era we are in.

There is also burn out with all the events that are being put on in MMA as an industry. That can turn a hardcore into a casual who picks and chooses what they watch. I tuned in in time to see Fedor/Chael (online) and had no interest in the rest of the event.

Very valid
But two giant names on free TV should do better
Its a mix of a lot of things sadly.
if it was just one, you could turn it around easier.
Credit to Viacom for changing direction & taking the DAZN deal & looking at overseas as a way to try to get in the black.
They went from owning inexpensive content on low rated nights to looking at Bellator as a potential money making entity.

Yay Bellator!

@FrankieNYC I know no one cares but me but how have the PFL been doing? I have seen numbers that say about 100k a show but im hoping maybe the saturday cards did better. I do like them on thursdays though. PFL also may have the best pacing in the game, its fight after fight.

@FrankieNYC thanks for always bringing the numbers.
I am confused by the different numbers tho. Is it three different things?
1. Overall Ave 2. Average for main fight and 3. High viewership for main fight?

I'm not positive
i know they started out decent, but i think recently numbers were less than hoped.
but again that is across the board with MMA

i watched on DAZN, i wonder if they will ever release their numbers but i doubt it. i also wonder how the Rory Gegard fight did

Not too bad of a peak and average for the Fedor/Chael fight. I agree that the ratings look better now than they did.

Man thats rough. I thought it was an awesome card but i was there live. O'connell is the man, he took pictures with everyone. Vinny was a killer.

I dont know if pfl has a 2nd season without getting on NBC

can admit i havent watched PFL at all. channel is too buried on my cable (think its like 200 something) and i dont have any fighters i really like that are competing there, i guess shields maybe. and hes beyond past it

over on the UG, the Bellator thread was dead all night until the main event. Then everybody was going nuts.

I am so glad to see the main event did well.
