Aldo isnt even in the top 5 of wins in UFC FW history?

he jad injuries and fought like 1-2 times a year. so his 8 or 9 title defenses were his only fights. when ur champ u just dont fight as often as when ur hungry trying to climb the ladder

coming in the ufc as a champ is a big reason why he doesnt have 10+ wins at 145

Let's not forget that Aldo was only a draw in Brazil. Injuries aside, I feel like the UFC had to do more marketing to try to get people interested in seeing him defend the title. Also, there definitely weren't as many notable fighters in his weight class for the majority of the time he was defending his title. Even a healthy Aldo probably only fights twice a year, unless he lands a Brazil card for a third fight. At the end of the day, based on skills alone, he's still one of the greatest and (for anyone who has done some stand-up sparring) his leg kicks are still nightmare fuel.

And this right here proves why stats don't mean shit.

Looking at Bj Penns record wont tell you he is one of UFC best and most impactful fighters. Just like those stats wont tell you a prime Aldo would KO half that list in side 3 rounds.
Aldo KOs all of them except Max IMO.

He’s a top 3 goat. People who followed the sport, particularly the lighter divisions, know he had an aura of invincibility paralleling that of Anderson’s and GSP’s.

I couldn’t stand him. Rooted against him nearly every fight. But he kept winning and winning in such dominating fashion.
No way in hell Aldo is top 3 GOAT. None of his title defenses are against guys who would be title contenders today aside from Frankie. He never had to defend the belt against a Holloway or Ortega level guy. He's top 10 but top 3 is too far-fetched.

yea, now we have max and ortega and even guys like moicano and bektic emerging at 145. if aldo stays at 145 and never goes up to 155 id like to see him vs these new guys
