Werdum is old and slow but so is Aleksei. Werdum should know enough to be able to defend against a true specialist.

Not a fan of the matchup. I would rather see Oleinik against pretty much anyone else like the winner of Arlovski/Tuivasa.

I have nothing against Oleinik and think he is a pretty fun fighter to watch. Having said this i dont think he stands much of a chance. Werdum will wreck him standing and if it goes to the ground he will either submit him or pound him out from top position. I dont think Oleinik will catch him with a submission as Werdum is just to good and crafty with his groundgame.

Because both said that they don't want to fight each other because they are Russians. I think one of them (probably Oleinik) said that he will agree if this fight will be for the belt (maybe for contender spot too).

Werdum should win this one fairly handily. His BJJ is better and more versatile,his striking is way more technical and advanced,he has good cardio and can go 5 rounds (he did that against Tybura and he also outlasted sea level Cain in the title fight). Oleinik can barely walk after the 1st round,his cardio is awful. Werdum is also 2 inches taller and 10 pounds heavier. I mean no matter how you look at it Werdum is superior. Even in terms of mileage Oleinik is worse because he has fought almost 70 times since 1997. Fabricio is more fresh in that regard.

That's a stupid fight and if UFC makes it main or co-main event that would be just laughable. There are plenty of heavyweights in Russia who can beat Werdum. For instance I'd give give Minakov,Pavlovich or Goltsov a 60-65% chance in a hypothetical fight against Werdum,I do think they are all better than him right now. But Oleinik is old and irrelevant. Stylewise it's a nightmare match-up for him too,his basic old school neck-cranks and ezekiel chokes won't work vs a multiple time ADCC champion.
