Social Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: Paul Ryan Was Elected at 28 and Called 'a Genius' While I'm a 'Fraud'

I'm confused now, because you seem to be saying it's okay for Trump to constantly claim victimhood but it's not okay if Cortez says it? You said we need to shut her down, or she'll keep doing it. But Trump's been doing it for years, and that's fine?

You can't call me a partisan after saying something like that. We could make a megathread of Trump claiming to be a victim.
You are definitely confused... in more ways than one.

I would never want to shut Oscasio down. I want there to be a long extensive record of her saying stupid shit like this so that in 10 or 15 years from now when she's gearing up to be the first woman President I can go full throttle exposing you hypocrites.

Also, I never said anything about Trump claiming to be or not to be a victim. We're talking about Oscasio and her wanting to be called a genius because someone called Paul one. She is literally the perfect prototype for you lot and it's hilarious at how quick you come to defend her by using Trump. It's so textbook... I'm sitting here on defense, reading your play, knowing full well where you're going to throw ball. EZ CLAP!

Some decent right-wing sources:

https://theimaginativeconservative.org/

https://marginalrevolution.com/

https://www.theamericanconservative.com/

https://www.econlib.org/

All better than the National Review, though they have occasionally decent stuff.

I was meaning more popular sources. You've posted the second before (and it was good), and I do agree with you about The American Conservative. But you really never see any of those (or at least I don't) actually pop up in remotely mainstream discourse.

1. Yeah, that's even worse. If OCA is still saying stuff as dumb as Ryan was in 2010 12 years from now, the case for comparing them will be much stronger.
It's actually not, if you can maintain concentration, because Ryan caught plenty of shit for saying those things, and the premise of Ocasio-Cortez's snowflake whinging is that she has been treated differently as a young politician based on identity like gender, when in fact no such 2010+ citations are relevant to that.
2. She's definitely been saying some dumb things, though for reasons that others in this thread have pointed out, I believe she's likely much smarter than Ryan.

Also note that Ryan had a decade of embarrassingly fawning MSM coverage, while OCA has been getting slammed constantly. It's fair to wonder why that it is (though I think the answer is much lower standards for the right).
Here comes the pivot from our resident DNC shill.

I've never seen someone say so many uninformed things, with such confidence, without trolling....

She might be the literal dumbest person in our national political scene

It actually is because Ryan was still saying really dumb things long after any learning period was over, and he caught shit from analysts, but the MSM was still in love with him.

Here comes the dumb personal attacks that Mick throws whenever he's in over his head. If you think that OCA's as dumb as Ryan, what are you basing that on? You have nothing so you have to fall back on this tactic. Also, look up "DNC" as you don't seem to know what it stands for. :)

You're licked, Jack. You always lose the forest for the trees in exchanges with me.

She'll always be defended by the progressive types, especially the minority ones like @panamaican .

<FookIsThatGuy>

You ever notice how often you need to mention me while I never mention you?

Sounds like someone is desperate for attention again. Here you go. Your daily dose of being noticed by your betters. Enjoy it. There won't be any more until tomorrow.

she's in the government, and LITERALLY does not know the 3 branches of government....

if anything else more needs to be stated, praytell, why?

Not really. You said that Ryan wasn't making basic arithmetic errors in public when he was getting fawning press coverage. In fact, Ryan has been notorious for his horrible math during the whole period. After that, you got so flustered by being contradicted by your better that you started trying to change the subject and throwing out personal attacks. Better luck next time.

What policy proposals does she hold that are contradictory? I think you're really confused.

Where did I mention her policy proposals? I am pointing out the problem I have with Cortez conveniently placing herself into the same class as the oppressed (Muh Oppression!) to further her political career when she can relate far more with Paul Ryan than any of the oppressed she claims to share the same experiences with. It is strange that race and gender are emphasized far more than class when it comes to oppression. It does make it convenient for opportunistic gender and race hustlers to place themselves into a victim category when they can conveniently ignore class and economic status.

I know you didn't mention policy but that is her job. And I'm not interested in how politicians market themselves I care about how they govern. If you're simply taking issue with the former, fine I don't have anything to say other then duh, democrats look to appeal to regular working class folks (particularly democratic socialist).

Give me a call when you want to talk about policy.

I just spent 45 minutes reading a few articles from this site. Great link with really good reads. Saved it.

Now I'll be doing some work catch up work during the football game tonight though lol.

Note that I don't endorse everything in it. Those are just my favorite right-leaning sites. But yeah, tons of good stuff on all of them. On that site, Caplan in particular is one of my favorite right-wing writers (though, again, I have big disagreements with most of his columns).

Yeah, women speaking their minds and standing up for themselves. What is this culture coming to? Stay in the kitchen, honey. Make me a sammich.

Oh my god you're nothing but a reserve of Twitter replies

It is strange that the right is so obsessed with her, though. What do you think the reason is? I've never seen a first-term Congressperson get so much press, and while she's had some real gaffes, the coverage seems wildly disproportionate.

I think they feel threatened because she's influential. If I understand correctly she won districts for which she wasn't even running. That's a pretty big feat accomplished.

I personally think it's the situation where one kid gets a new toy, and it's obviously really cool. The other kid who doesn't have the toy is seething so they have to just come up with reason after reason for not liking it.

If the Republicans had them on their team they'd do the exact same thing, just mirrored. They'd have all the "See we're not racist," "See you hate her because she's on our team," drivel. They tried that with Rubio if I remember correctly.

Whoops forgot to add this, but I agree wholeheartedly that it's hypocritical to be singling her out due to her age or some perceived incompetence but not have an issue whatsoever with Paul Ryan.
