American Outlaws. Millennial 1%er street racers

These are just young engineers preparing for the inevitable Mad Max world California will descend into following the 9.9 earthquake

You'd be surprised... my lead at ca state parks was a meth smoking, run from the cops mechanic who seriously loved fast and furious. Mother fucker was last working on a 95 ford escort and turning it into a sleeper. The dude could fix anything, was also a great teacher and even nicer person.

Full curmudgeon on these stupid fucks. Yank the license for 5 years, confiscate the cars outright, 60 days in jail. For everybody, not just the drivers.

I went to one once in 2000 or so. Was boring for the most part. Was fun for.like 3 mins. Tons of guys got pulled over by the police. It really wasn't and isn't worth it imho. Just do fight Club, cheaper and more interesting

The Saturn Ion Redline was by far the fastest car I have ever owned. From a roll it was near invincible back in the day.

What the fuck, wikipedia says the redline could do 0-60 in 2.7 seconds. I can't find other reliable sources but one said 7 seconds.

I got a z4 with 330hp that hits mid 4's. I don't believe that saturn...

one guy i used to work with grinded off all of the protective rust proofing underneath his car just to shave off an extra 20 pounds

would have been easier for him to just stop eating fast food for a month

Priorities. :D

Here in the states cops are pussies and wont go after anyone who isnt alone. People shut down freeways for this. Big money in it. It also done with many cars generally around an overpass so its easier to get away if they bring out the helicopters. Sucks for people just trying to get home though. Videos below.

Freeway shutdown, prepping the road, cop drives right by, all behind them, too scared to get near, racing right in front of them. This is all real, not on TV, they just honestly dont care hence the good production of most videos.

Outrunning helicopter real-time in a Civic....

The sweds are even crazier though since rules are harsher and they dont have as many overpasses to use to hide.

I love motorsport and am involved in circuit racing myself. But there is a time and place for everything. I appreciate a spirited drive as much as anyone, but the road is not the place to be driving at 10 10ths.

I saw a white rice rocket a couple of weeks ago with something written on the back window. I pulled up next to him at a light and saw it was Paul Walker's signature and dob/dod.

I laughed my ass off.

Ride or die.

Why not both?

Out of all of the cars I have owned:

1992 Camero Z28 IROC
1994 Honda Del Sol
1995 3000GT
2000 Mustang GT
2006 Saturn Ion Redline

The Saturn Ion Redline was by far the fastest car I have ever owned. From a roll it was near invincible back in the day.
In the 90s my quick ride was a 78 g-body Malibu with a big block 454 turbo 400,3.70 Ford 9 inch. Ran mid 11s @115 mph. So you’ll forgive me if a Saturn ion doesn’t sound invincible ln the 2000s. Those cars would be lucky to do a 1/4 mile in under a minute lol

You can’t believe it cuz it’s bullshit. Lots of cars that size had 180-200 hp fwd and were absolute dogs. Peppy sure but 2.7 0-60 lmao.

This nothing new and why the NHRA was formed.

I can see it being a problem in populated areas where you endanger others .

If you are out some place away from other people then I don't care if you kill yourself.

Back a long time ago when I was involved it was in the country so it was only the people involved. Some guys died but that's the chance you take.

Also if you were caught and the car or bike was in your name the court took the car and you didn't get it back.

We have a few imports here but not too many we consider all that fast. There’s a few awd ones that make some decent passes in the low 11 mid 10s range. In the 90s that was quick now a factory camaro, mustang charger etc will run that all day with very little work if any.
nowadays you can get a toyota camry with over 300 HP stock. the import scene is over with but it was a fun couple decades.

it was about 4 seconds for 0-60 on the redline stock. i belonged to a redline club and we timed it. Redlines are notorious for having remarkably different times. Some people do the quarter in the high 13's stock and some are in the high 15's.

My last car I had was a 2000 mustang GT with tons of mods and i never felt it was ever as fast as my redline.

What are you talking about? The import scene is more alive then ever. Running faster times then ever. There is almost a 4 banger ready to break into the 5's. Hell they have stock chassis civics running mid 7's at 200+mph. And once again Stock Chassis... How they dont fly apart at that speed amazes me.

One of only 3 types of engines to run 5's is an import engine(the 2jz) the others are Fords Mod motor and Proline 500+ci big blocks(or similar)

The 4 cylinder almost into the 5's.

American Asshats, imo

Legal driving age should be 30.

And you should get your license yanked at 70.

You must love the Nanny State and wish for more Government control over your life. You may not care about your rights and privileges but others care about theirs. Also, every country that has automobiles also has people doing illegal and stupid things with them including whatever place you reside in.

Import scene is alive but not "more alive than ever" IMO as NOPI would still be alive and doing well if the interest was as big as it was shortly after the Fast Furious days. People grew up and realized that you can buy a Fox Platform Ford like a Mustang, Capri, LTD or such and drop a GM 4.8 or 5.3 LS style engine and a 76-78mm turbo and run 10's or 9's more easily and cheaper than trying to chase that goal in a Honda or other import that has more limited parts and tuning support.

Some of what you see in the US import scene are guys who weren't born within the Continental US. I attend Import vs Domestic World Cup Finals every year. If you eliminated the Puerto Ricans alone you'd lose at least 8 cars that are in the top 5 of any of the faster classes. Also, look at the results from Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The imports can't run for 3 days without losing a lot of cars to breakdowns. Their best showing was when the event ran 2 days. You'll see cars with no time listed because they died. Consequently, racers run what is cheaper, effective, and can go rounds and win.

What are you talking about? I just proved it is more alive then ever.
People buy imports because it is cheaper to build them... Less pistons, rods, bearings, less machine work on the heads/block,less gaskets, studs etc.
The Civic running 7's above is a 25k build....(granted thats shop price not average person) Labor is the main killer, not part price if you arent doing the work yourself.
MIR every other year has been import, muscle, import, muscle who wins the X275 vs Hotrod class....(which is great as it keeps the rivalry alive)
Hondas have some of the most tuning support on the market... If you go to MIR every year i assume you should know this... They are the Chevy of the import world. People swap K series into MR2s,NSXs, etc.(Albeit the B series is quicker)

Any drag car breaks, 4 cylinder, v6, straight 6, v8, straight 8, v10, v12, you name it they break. Any 1000+ horsepower car will.

Your post is extremely biased for American V8s. Im a car guy, i love and own all types of cars from a 1990 Miata to a 1927 T bucket with a SBC 400(that im selling if anyone wants to buy lol)
