And another one gone- Star Wars author Chuck Wendig says he was fired by Marvel over ‘vulgar’ tweets

I believe he was merely being sarcastic, and mocking people who make that argument whenever shit like this goes down.
Yes, I should have realized that. ;)

Well, a lot of the criticism was specifically because the lead role was a black guy, Asian girl, etc. So it’s not like they just pulled that out of their asses. Jesus Christ, this is what I mean. Star Wars fanboys are the absolute worst. You guys are a bunch of fucking incels. Thanks for proving I was right.

Some criticism along those lines happened as I'm sure they knew it would be I think we've clearly seen a desire to try and write off all criticism of the films as being due to bigotry when I don't think the vast majority of it has been.

Your posting I think reflects there angle pretty much exactly, its partisan politics rather than film criticism. I think this has gone down especially badly here because as I said I don't think most of the fanbase is actually bigoted.

Beyond that I'd say what makes the Starwars fanbase hard to please is that the original films are excellent blockbuster cinema, it sets a high standard and medicore films like the prequels and the sequels will get judged harshly as a result.

No, I think all Star Wars movies have been shit. I can barely sit through them.

Well you would be in the minority view thinking that, I mean if you dislike all blockbuster cinema then fair enough I spose but many don't and those people don't automatically limit themselves to it.

Please tell me you don’t actually think that is how you spell or say “suppose.” Please tell me that is a reference to the rapper from Maine.

Is this really the level you want to take this debate to? being critical of someone using causal language on a net message board?

I find no fault in urging a wait and see approach to determine if the market actually responds, but you're the type of poster who gleefully revels in that time period not existing for people like Roseanne Barr, or insisting it doesn't matter in spite of the opposite truth in the case of Donald Sterling, so while I'm sympathetic to this argument, don't for a minute think I don't espy that you're hypocritically wielding it only out of selfish convenience.

This is pure nonsense. I have always maintained here that an employee's rights, when off the premises and off the clock, should not be infringed upon, in any way, by an employer. I have applied this to political speech and activism as well as to alcohol and drug ingestion.

I even proposed that, were a law in place forbidding employers from firing employees for personal behavior, we could defuse the motivation for retaliatory boycotts, protecting both the bottom line of the employer and the rights of the worker.

I have also written at length about the chickens coming home to roost for libertarians and conservatives in this regard, just as I always predicted they would, given that ideology's refusal to regulate corporate power. I recall you getting irate over one of those threads in particular when I used a colorful phrase, something to the effect that libertarians were getting fucked in the ass with their own dick. lol

Stop lying, Mick.

Looks like an insufferable piece of trash.

People accused of racism can lose their jobs and have their lives ruined for getting labeled as such. It's basically the new N-word for white folks.

Today, the word "racism" is in the same boat as the word "socialist". It means so many different things to so many different people it's virtually impossible to hold people accountable when they use it as an epithet.

For example, there are some people who would call another a "racist", and really believe it, if that other was opposed to affirmative action in college admissions. It's a wacky perspective but "true" to that person's definition. Similar to those who apply the label "socialist" to anyone who supports progressive taxation and increases to the top marginal rate.

I’m not debating anything other than Star Wars sucks, all of them, and the fanboys are the absolute worst, which was adequately proven in the thread.

I don't have a problem with this at all. He put himself in the position of depending on the Star Wars license to help sell his books.

Share the post where you defended Roseanne Barr. I must have missed it.

I wonder why Star Wars is so infused with SJW nonsense?

I didn't watch any of the new shit. Fuck Disney.

It's about damn time. The problem is Lucas is full of unhinged pieces of shit like this guy. As long as you have a weak leader like Kathleen Kennedy running the show this will continue to be an issue. Can't ever remember a company that has so publicly shit on it's customers. Rian Johnson should have been fired months ago (although to be fair he only comes off as a prick, not a psycho like this clown).

Her tweet was legitimately humorous, and the racial component was an accident imo. This star Wars guy is spewing hatred with no attempt to disguise it. He is damaging a multi billion dollar brand.

I will vote with my wallet.

I don't get it either. I may watch the new ones at some point, but I never understood the hype for Star Wars in general. It was cool when I was a kid, but as an adult I don't get the hype. I was in my 20's when episode I, II, and III came out and while I thought they were entertaining I realized I just kind of out grew that kind of shit.

If I'm going to watch Sci-Fi I'd rather watch something a little more thought provoking like A Space Odyssey, Mr. Nobody, or The Matrix. Or even something a little more brutal like Event Horizon. To each their own I guess.

You seen the series Maniac? Right in line with your taste as per this post.

I never saw any of the new star wars. Never got it either.

I really am baffled by how stupid people are.
This isnt even a "millennial" thing. People of all ages go on social media and just type out the dumbest shit.
You can express an opinion without being a cunt. And I don't understand why everyone feels they need to out edgelord each other.
How are all these grown adults incapable of acting like adults?

I wouldn't make most of the comments they made anonymously on Sherdog, let alone using my real name to the public
