Any serious gamers that make $ here?

I recently discovered that people sell Clash of Clans bases, sometimes for upwards of $1000. It blows my mind.

I made somewhere more than ten grand playing Asheron's call back in the day. I wasn't in it for the money but every once in a while I'd stumble across something worth too much money to keep. There was a suit of quest armor that was insanely good so I spent a month repeating that quest. It was a tough quest but I had a pretty powerful character. Next month they nerfed the quest and the value of the armor rocketed to $1500 a suit, so I sold five suits of Greater Shadow Amuli Armor.

Its crazy how much people spend on games. I was a GM of a #1 guild for a small MMO for a few years (we were the bad guys that would pk everyone), and I'd always have members that were just rich people, I'm not kidding when I say they would drop 5-10k per month on the game, gold, items, whatever. Business owners or retired people that have nothing better to do, a lot were younger people too.

When I was in 5th or 6th grade, there was an Atari 2600 tournament in our local mall.

I played "Journey" (based on the band, but nowhere as good as the real arcade game). We only got to play once. I remember not beating the high score at first. But at the end of the game, one of the people running it noticed that the screen was snowy, so he let me play again. So, I ended up getting the high score and 1st place.

I won (that I remember):

A cheap trophy
A 1st place T-shirt
A "Combat" cartridge (great, because Ataris don't already come with that one  )
A card for a fee meal from Chik-fil-A
A Baskin and Robbins ice cream cake

That was pretty cool, back then.

Good job bro

Closest I came was playing Counterstrike in CAL back in the day. But me and the clan I was in got humiliated completely so I actually lost money helping to pay for our practice server. NEVER TRY

My money is on that Doughbelly was in the team that humiliated you.

Better then lifting furniture or walking miles after miles as post man. I still go to gym on regular basis. I just don't sit all day

You have a fancy ergonomic chair?

I think they make bugger all (from Twitch) unless they have a huge number of viewers.

They can make supplemental income from sponsors and of course donations.

I watch a Twitch stream that's basically as much comedy as it is gaming, and it's two guys so it's constant back and forth banter and stuff. Having 2 guys also makes it easier for one to interact with the chat and one to keep on gaming. Dudes making very decent money I'm guessing. They also have a very popular YT channel though, so that helps a lot with bringing in the eyes.

CS-GO streamers who are also top players will easily surpass 200-300k. These people get incredible donations on twitch, along with sponsorship money and monthly salaries of 5-10k. This wouldn't include potential prize money. Many seem to develop a severe gambling problem involving cs skins as well.

You talking about PewDiePie?

Haha I did the same shit, I'd just goto the local magazine store tear open the latest video game magazine and then sell whatever codes I could write down for a couple bucks each.

The local arcade in my area was having a Street Fighter 2 tournament, there were alot of people at the time like 40-60 heads. It was free tournament so alot of people joined eventhough they had no idea how to play. 95% of the people there were clueless or played flowchart Hadoken bros. There were a couple of dudes that were actually pretty good, one was a Dhalsim player and the other a Zangief player both of them made it really far but both of them had to quit because of their parents. Those guys I think could have beaten me if they had stayed. After they left and alternates came in, I faced an endless line of Ken/Ryu's who I beat fairly easily with Blanka because they all had the same game plan. I ending up being crowned the winner of the tournament. I won a t shirt, a $100 gift certificate to some local electronics store and entry into the next tournament which was to be held at the world famous Golfland in Sunnyvale. I begged my mom to take me which was like 2 hours away. After days of nagging she agreed and off we went. I got Golfland saw a huge group of people maybe about the same size as the last tournament except everyone was very good and a wide variety of characters. They had a few SF2 machines for people to practice on then as the tournament was about to they wheeled out this arcade cabinet that was all covered up with a blanket. They unveiled Street Fighter 2 Champion Edition which hadn't even come out yet in most American arcades, it blew everyone's minds. Long story short, I had a pretty close mirror match against another Blanka player but in the end got dusted in the first round of the tournament. My mom was so furious, almost five hours of driving for 4 minutes of playing and nothing to show for it.

Oh man I enjoyed your SF2 story thanks for sharing I was a big fan of SF2 it got big in my city around 1993 and I remember getting up early on saturdays just so I can get to the Arcades and avoid huge crowds.

I have never been to a competion though even just as an expectator.

I would have creamed my panties had I been in your place even if I will just be an expectator.

I got the SF2s on MAME. I love CE hacks.

Oh mid 90s I miss those days

I beat the 12th ranked player on xbox live on Tiger Woods 08, but no, that was my biggest "gaming accomplishment".

Excuse my ignorance but Dhalsim and Zangieff ? I didn't know one could reach high level using those 2....

Reading threads like this makes me think all those years I spent in school were a waste.

If only I invested as much time in Starcraft as I did studying, who knows where I would be today.

How many women did you bang in college? Now consider how many women you would have banged during four years of playing World of Warcraft.

I only spend money on games :D I like playing CS:GO a lot and I often play some casinos with skins for it on skins.casino and other websites. It is really very fun and brings me some cool items too. Have you tried such casinos for you?

I started a Halflife TFC "clan" in 1999 that by the early 00's was arguably the best in the world, never earnt a penny from it though and honestly I was lazy with others doing most organising...

I did suggest the Bill Paxon quotes in the video though.
