are HOAs that bad?

Just imagine how insane Florida would look without HOAs. I dont really like them, but just imagine.
well florida is its own animal ..i used to live in a townhome community and yes they can be god for some things..some of them are batshit crazy though... like you cant display any flag other than the american flag etc... limits on holiday decor and even on garbage cans size and placement etc... all kinds of nutty stuff

you mean black people ..at least be honest..you dont like black people and you dont want them as neighbors :)

HOA's are for lily white people who are scared of their own shadows and seem "hoods" around every corner

Lol.... Derp....

LOL. HOAs racist. Hadn’t thought about that angle!
its the truth... they set income restrictions

their regs
Any homeowner may display one portable, removable United States flag or official flag of the State of Florida in a respectful manner, and one portable, removable official flag, in a respectful manner, not larger than 4-1/2 feet by 6 feet, which represents the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard, or a POW-MIA flag, regardless of any covenants, restrictions, bylaws, rules, or requirements of the association.

You can change all of that stuff, even dissolve the HOA. Most of them are legacies from the developer and exist for a variety of reasons. First and foremost is that before the developer has sold all of the units in the community, the developer wants to preserve the look of the community to make sure the prices don't take a hit because some dude lets his property look like crap. Also, the developer tends to have a financial interest in some of the things the HOA is paying for.

After the developer is out of the picture, you can pretty much do whatever you want with the HOA.

yeah it depends... when i lived in the HOA i was in the property was sold 5 times... it took me 3 years to get my neighbor out who was violating like 12 rules (drugs drinking outside after 10pm multiple police calls to their house damage to property dogs defecating in my area etc...) i avoid HOA's like the plague...

its fine im moving out of FL in the spring to NH im a new englander anyways

Sounds like a weak HOA that was scared to pay the lawyers to drop the hammer.

hmm if it was that easy then why so many homeowners are at war with their hoas? I am not arguing with you btw, just asking...

yeah they were too busy getting ready to flip it like the other 6 owners did.. nothing was ever accomplished... i remember calling the cops on a kid (rich parents) who literally set up a stage in the living room with a drum kit amps etc and would have "shows" all hours of the night ... took 12 neighbors and about 25 police reports to finally evict them (only took 2 flipping years)

It's what white people with money to do keep minorities out.

This is my street and this happened

you should consider living elsewhere

This is the most expensive part of Las Vegas. Summerlin is where the rich people live. The criminals live in North Las Vegas. It's another city, but they make the trip to steal some shit.

I'm not saying it's "easy", it requires putting in the work and most people don't think about their HOA's as something they can change. Most people don't put any effort into them at all except when they have an issue. You have get enough people in favor of something and then mobilize them to get the HOA rules changed, it's work.

Im of the mind... if you live in an area that NEEDS an HOA to keep out undesirables maybe you are living in the wrong area... just my 2 cents unless you have some amazing well paying job from which you cannot transfer or you have elderly family living close i would move.. I hated NY i moved to FL.. i hate FL im moving to NH.. i spent the better part of 3 years scouting places and looking up census and other information and finally we are moving out of FL ... (we had to wait for a district manager job transfer for wife)
