You are over simplifying everything. We have had the greatest peace in modern times. This graph is logarithmic so it makes these meat grinder conflicts look less pronounced.

That really doesn't make sense though, because the world was obviously more globized from 1850 compared to WWI, and was more globized from WWI to WWII.

We have been having less wars between world powers, but when those wars do occur they have become bigger, and more deadly.

Before you point out that deadliness of war is a function of technology, so is globalism.

No. The first thing I do, if we are breaking into teams, is to look around and see who my team mates are by looking for the same jersey.

You give people too much credit. At our core, we are still dumb monkeys. The lizard brain, our fight or flight mechanism, and basic evolutionary traits are not something you can wish away.

At some point people are going to start looking around for those wearing the same uniform.

I was just referencing a silly YouTube channel called nuanceBRO(or something like that - he has t-shirt layout similar to my post).... also that's a pretty bold statement considering how often the word nazi, fascist, and racist gets used by the left... Is nuance is making a grand sweeping statement calling the other side(consisting of tens of millions of people) deplorables?!? Do you remember that time when they were calling Ben shapiro a nazi even though he's a practicing Jew? Or the time they called milo a racist even though he's very supportive of black men(if they ever actually listened to him they'd know he never went down the rabbit hole of black crime statistics and didn't fixate on IQ tests like many other conservatives do).

Agreed and I can't help but feel that those extremes are inching closer and closer to the center(was Hilary a democrat? I wouldn't consider her a leftist). I shouldn't have brought up the other two examples.

It's common for democrats to call trump a fascist. That's just objectively not true if you go by the definition of the word(and I've heard this from regular middle aged, non-politically active people). I just disagree that either party has any sort of nuance these days with the 24 hour news cycle, social media/twitter, and I'm sure I'm forgetting a bunch of other things that contribute to our clickbait/partisan fuckery.

I don't care if you support individual Republicans or Democrats if you can tell me exactly why you support those people. If you can point to specific statements, or policies that candidate supports, I am fine with that.

It's a bit more complicated than that. Personally, I would have remained a registered independent had I not moved to a closed primary state.

It's true that there used to be more ideological diversity within each major party. Keyword used to be. It's not really a thing anymore, and is increasingly becoming even less of a thing. When you see a Republican you basically know what you're getting and the same goes for a Democrat, and you probably know which one represents your views better.

The traitor part is pure hyperbole, sorry.

Yes it is because the correlation is so strong these days that it basically borders on causation. If you look at any ballot, the amount of outliers are few to none. If you're a conservative Republican, you're going to find few Democrats who represent your views. If you're a liberal Democrat, you're going to find few Republicans who represent your views. Therefore, the corresponding candidate from each major party almost always represents your views better than the other.
