Arizona State Superintendednt Diane Douglas picked creationist Joseph Kezele as 1 member of a panel to "review Arizona’s standards on how to teach evolution in science class:"

The Superintendent is sympathetic to Creationists

Teach creationism in history , religion or humanities class, but not as Science. There are many creationist stores, why should the school only teach the Abrahamic one. Why don't they include Native American creationist stories too.
Good to see. Definitely a step in the right direction!

I’m also glad to see that some zoos, amusement parks, and kids cartoons are doing away with “million/billion years” nonsense and instead using terms like “a long time ago”.

How is it good? Why does a creationist need to help design the method in which evolution is taught?

It makes no fucking sense. Should flat earthers be included in teaching planetary history/geology?
Flat Earthers are a relatively recent phenomena, whereas creationists have existed in large numbers for quite some time now.

I think its about time Christians get some representation in our schools science curriculum.

You mean evangelicals, because most christians arent backward fundamentalists.

When the kids get home, sometimes you gotta explain to them that their teachers are just people with beliefs - stating them as facts. There so much info flying all over these days, so I'm not going to try and insulate my kids from it. (well except the porn that @Zer watches). Just get 'em used to everyone having an opinion, half of these opinion-havers being of below average intelligence, half of them being full of shit, half of them being completely indoctrinated, half of them all 3, etc... and then let them form their own opinion based on available information.

Wild concept. Anyways - have fun in this endlessly contentious era, kiddos!

I still don't see how it's a good thing. The panel should be teachers and scientists who understand the material. Not people looking to undermine it because, "Muh Religion!". It's completely asinine.

The religious community's feelings shouldn't be playing any part in designing academic course work. No matter how small.
What exactly are you so scared of?

So, it’s confirmed. Your brain does not possess the ability to competently process and/or comprehend the responses provided to you by other forum members.

How/why exactly are you “President of The WR”? And, what exactly is your role as “President”?

They put him on a panel to help decide how evolution is taught.

That is a good thing. It does not mean he gets to choose what is in the curriculum, it just means that he is there to have input into how evolution can be taught in a way that is not insensitive or insulting to creationists.

If he attempts to change the curriculum to learn towards something unscientific, then it is a problem.

Science class should be insulting to creationists. Just like it should be insulting to people who think health is controlled by your humors.

Quick question: What constitutes a fact and who determines it? An expert? If so, what determines an expert? A group of people agreeing that what a person believes falls in line with what they believe?
They are things you can go and verify yourself. That's the beauty of science. You can duplicate their findings.

Correct. This guy never once suggested teaching creationism as fact. He suggested telling kids all the theories to make up their own minds. I don't believe in creationism, but nobody suggested teaching it as fact.
It's not a theory. Science theory doesn't work that way. It's not like some guy saying he has a theory. In order for creationism to be valid you have to alter the observations made throughout history. You have to claim that isotopes didn't always have the decay rate that we observe today. That the ice cores taken in Antarctica were the result of a million summers and winters occurring in a single year.

Its funny in the US you have a word for creationist and everyone knows what that means.
In German, no one would know the German version of it.
You would have to explain the subject with a few sentences because it is so absurd.

Why not? I doubt he's the only person on the board. All opinions should be represented.
Splendid! This means we should put a Satanist and a Bisexual reptilian on the board too.

lol. You would think this was some African shithole where Albinos are also ground to fairy dust.

We shouldn't consider the feelings of flat earthers when we teach geography, why should we consider the feelings of creationists when teaching evolution?

Religious nonsense has no business in the science class

This is like putting a blind man on a panel to review the colors in the rainbow.

“What’s RED mean”

There's plenty of evidence, studies, research, and experiments showing historical events to match the Bibles version of history such as the age of humanity and the great flood. Theres evidence showing and supporting the spiritual, non materialist nature of life. Theres significant evidence supporting the Bibles description of the universe, the stars, the 'planets', the moon, ect.

The reason you are not aware of these things is because...well...you were never taught it.

hindu beliefs should be allowed in too. maybe evolution is fake and we all came from the belly of a giant god.

keep science in science class. you can tear it all down in sunday school if you want to later.
