Askren’s wrestling would be a huge problem. If you never wrestled a funk style wrestler before you will be in for a tough time.

Askren looked old as fuck, I was actually pretty shocked.

Tbh, he's 33. He doesn't really have much of a future in the UFC even they did sign him

...at 33, he could easily come to the UFC and have a solid run. You can do a lot in a few years.

Bad time to start your run, and 33 is past prime. 33 is usually the tail-end of your career, 1-2 years before you're forced out after a string of KOs

Ben can be appreciated by hardcores who appreciate a good wrestlefuck job

But UFC wasnt gonna win many new fans with him. Business move, and who knows what Ben was asking financially. He really wanted the GSP fight.

I got to watch Ben do his pre-fight warmup when he fought Hieron live. I was impressed by his wrestling drills. He literally does repititions of taking in legs from being the most sprawled out he can be and sucking them to his chest over and over. This dude will take you down anytime he gets a hold of a leg.
