8. David Allan Coe - released two underground "comedy" albums in the late 70's & early 80's that pretty much got him labeled a racist, sexist, anti-gay amongst other things that has plagued his career ever since.
9. Prince - Changed his name to the symbol for Male and Female, then performed on TV many times with the word "Slave" written on his cheek to fight back against his contract with Warner Bros.
10. GG Allin - Born Jesus Christ Allin. His mission: to bring danger back into Rock n Roll. Live shows frequently consisted of transgressive acts such as performing in the nude, taking a shit on stage, attacking audience members, and so forth. He claimed he would commit suicide on stage. His recorded music ranks as some of the "worst".
11. Rolling Stones hired the Hells Angels to provide security for their free concert at Altamont. They ended up killing Meredith Hunter.
12. Rage Against The Machine incendiary show outside the Democratic National Convention in 2000. They shut down the New York Stock Exchange when the band defied the police to play at Wall Street and then invaded the exchange while making the Michael Moore-directed music video Sleep Now in the Fire.
