khabib and jake shields for example
Jon Jones punches like a girl, but has deadly elbows, knees, and kicks and everything else
If Jones never popped i'd say him. Longest reach in the UFC, talented, spars with great strikers and still can't throw a jab to save his life.
Was going to say Maia but I believe he was getting the better of Shields on the feet...so Shields.
Been a long time since I've seen that fight though.
Valid. Did Severn ever learn to punch? I want to say no.
I love Matt Hughes but he might also qualify for terrible boxing. And he was the WW GOAT before GSP took it to the next level.
Jones had pretty below average boxing. He was just tall, had good kicks and good cardio.
Jake Shields was a pretty bad at boxing
Ortiz is a LHW top 5 and he was shit. Randy was a good dirty boxer but shit stand up. Sylvia.
Hughes, Cormier, pettis, rockhold
He isn't an ex champion or great.
The level of boxing in MMA isn't high....
so, the whole bunch.
does this mean you dont need boxing to be successful mma fighter?
I think he did a great progress in his boxing for his last fight
Even me, as non-educated in boxing, could notice it, so I think it's a thing.
Cormier's boxing seems pretty solid for a guy 1/2 a foot shorter than his peers. lol
