**Disclaimer**
Before all you scumbags start parroting how overrated Ronda is, how she sucks and how she only beat cans and blah, blah, blah I also hated Ronda back in the day so please let's have a decent discussion here.

Ortega have such a deadly submissions, once he gets hold on you it's almost game set, he reminds me how Ronda was destroy arms once she clinched the other chicks, it's been a while since somebody had that kind of deadly subs

Ortega is more dangerous considering the variety of submissions he attacks with. His transitions, set ups, and guard are all so smooth and dangerous, where as Ronda only has one submission and that's an armbar

I think Maia is better and has a better resume as far as who he's subbed

He probably is but it won't last

He's very good but he hasn't fought enough high level guys yet, it terms of how good is submissions are/level of competition, I'd still rank the diaz bros, werdum, jacare, and Maia all as more dangerous

The most dangerous submission specialist has to be Rousimar Palhares, literally.

"Whatever he catch, he destroy."

Ortega might put you to sleep, but palhares that guerilla will leave with your foot tucked under his arm like a football lmao..dangerous mofo..

I don't know because Frank Mir has broken a lot of bones in his time when he was younger, I know of 2 arms and 1 shoulder her broke so That is a tough one.
Ortega might have more but joint locks are much more gnarly than chokes.

dont give me that ronda shit - she tapped chicks that dont even fight anymore and ones that fight part-time. compare that to the guys maia and werdum have subbed. maia literally choked out condit in like a minute just last year

Debatable.
Who are going to be his toughest fights in the grappling department.
Max, Franky, Chad and kz are studs on the ground that will be hard to submit. Max has a long neck

I think when all is said and done Ortega may go down as one of if not the best submission specialist ever. He's so young and only looks to be getting better, once he gets you in something you arent getting out. He most likely would've subbed Cub in the first if the bell hadnt gone.

He's so fricken dangerous, but with zero wrestling, tends to slug, hasn't fought top guys etc. etc. it's impossible for me to put him over guys like Maia who's more of a attack subs rather than position bjj like earlier in his career,so he's become much more dangerous in the same way Masvidal started going for the kill after losing some really close split decisions.Different mentality now,too bad Maia is old now =/

I like to try and pick things like this by weight class rather than overall.I can't think of anyone at 145 that seems as dangerous as he is with subs. He'll be even more dangerous when he gets his striking in order to set up the clinch or td's,and of course work on his awful wrestling, that would be scary if he was really well rounded. Also, lets not forget Cub has 8 sub losses out of his 10.

Yes. It's so natural for him. He has more skills than Ronda ever had. Functionally he's in his prime

The only real contender that comes to mind would be Charles Oliveira: 9 out of 10 of his wins in the UFC have come via submission.

^ Probably my all-time favourite triangle choke into an armbar. So god damn pretty, and still the only submission loss in Darren Elkins' 23-5 career.

I'd say so. People seem to be confusing an overall skill level in jiu-jitsu with the ability to transition into submissions.

There's a big difference and I'd say Ortega is up there with some of the top guys like Ferguson in that category.

Yeah,I would actually have Charles as more dangerous at least proven wise, but he's not at 145 anymore.

Look, I just don’t want people to forget Ronda could beat Cain under the right circumstances, and that she was dropping pro boxers with body shots in training.

Holloway punches his face in though.
