British Army Instructor Faces Court Martial for Yelling at Female recruit

You cannot win in Afghanistan because there's nothing to win.

Occupy it? Great. You'll occupy a country with nothing to offer, filled with rural peasants that cling onto their traditions. The moment you're gone, they'll revert back to what they've been doing for a thousand years.

Yeah, it's a shit hole. As you say, there's nothing there worth conquering, and the natives are too backward to civilise.

Depends on if the justification is just the treatment, or the airing it online

People need to quit fucking recording everything they do. It only leads to trouble (and is also why police all should be outfitted with bodycams and on whenever they're doing their job)

Agreed. As a general rule of thumb, never do or say anything online you wouldn't be happy to do live in front of a massive audience. Because it's basically the same thing.

It is because of tech. A moron sherdoggy in his basement could take out a third world country by moving a joystick and hitting his trigger.

Drones made 'war' easy. I think war should be hard. It should be face to face, you shoot me and I'll shoot you.

That would make it as hard as it should be and make people think twice or three times about it.

Now it's a next stage in a game. For everyone except the ones getting 'droned' and/or bombed.

You can't watch those videos from the Snowden leaks and think we're the good guys.

You still need boots on the ground. Technology will only make infantry obsolete when the T-800 comes online(and I for one welcome our new Sky Net overlords;))

So until the United States Terminator Corp is ready to deploy, soldiers will still have to win the firefight. Close with and kill the enemy. The weapons have changed, but in some ways the battlefield is the same for a modern soldier as it was for the Samurai, Romans, Vikings or the Poor Fellow Brothers of Christ and the Temple of Solomon. Killing another human being, especially at close quarters, requires physical and mental strength, aggression and stamina.

The army instructor is doing the right thing. This isn't yoga, it's the fuckin military. This is one place where we shouldn't lower our standards.

She's crying over words?
What's she gonna do when she has to blow someone's head off? Cry?

She's the one who should be booted, the pathetic sack of shit belongs in a cubicle.

Was never deployed. Drones have depersonalized war for the west.

Liked and agree with this part "The best practice would be to have political figures fight the wars they get their countries into personally."

I don't see how civilian deaths have been reduced in any significant way. We can look up the numbers. Iraq and Afghanistan have been devestated with civilian casualties.

Drones have only made some specific operations easier. The fact the wars are in foreign soil are the only thing that depersonalize it for the government and public. For the man on the ground it felt pretty fucking personal.

Us won Afghanistan pretty easily. Handing it back over is what’s proving hard.

Dude, we are still there fighting. Since 2001. ...and we have had a pretty good casualty rate for Americans.

"Feb 2, 2018 - President Donald Trump addressed American soldiers and Army generals at the Fort Myers military base in Arlington, Virginia, announcing that he was taking a new approach to the war in Afghanistan – the longest war in U.S. history, and its costliest since World War II."

Yeah because that is what terrorists are looking for. That is the reason why the Russian and the US both won in Afghanistan the terrorists were scared of the soldiers.

Obviously, this is a public relations issue. And exactly what militaries in 2018 don't want to project anymore.
You want to win over local populations not given the appearance you are there with your killers.
Training people like that is one thing. Filming it and making it public should get you fired for stupidity at least.

It was mostly a joke, but yeah the British military just lost some toughness points.

Russia (Soviet Union) lost in Afghanistan. It was their Vietnam. The verdict is still out on a U.S. victory in Afghanistan.

Yes. Women in the U.S. Army can now fill combat roles like the Infantry. They can go through Ranger school, Special Forces school and even U.S. Navy SEAL training. I would say 99% of women soldiers want nothing to do with that.

First woman candidate out of the Naval Academy didn't even make to BO, and officers have a much better chance of making it through than enlisted scum.

Something I fully expect to see in the next couple years is reports of most women in the infantry getting discharged on medical grounds. Most incidental injuries happen to the bottom quarter of men in terms of physical ability in the infantry. ALL of the women that are making it through infantry training battalion are in the bottom of the range of physical activity for the infantry. They are going to get discharged due to hip, back and knee injuries.

The fucker stole lines straight from FMJ. But he filmed it, so fuck him.

What is BO? Man, the enlisted ranks are the backbone of the U.S. military. Where did you get the idea they are scum? Do you think officers win wars?

The US forces took it easily.

We did? That's because the Afghan military does not have any real air power. Afghanistan has been fighting wars since the dawn of time. Winning a lot. They make a formidable foe. The Soviet Union had air power back in the 1980s and still lost the war. Americans fight wars for a limited amount of time. The Afghans will fight a war for as long as it takes. 5 years or 500 years. Much like the North Vietnamese.

I don't suspect that most women think the Army is for them, most men either.

Well, the poll we had on the other thread clearly proves that. Most 'men' opted to go into the U.S. Air Force, where it is safe. Just be glad we don't have the draft. The choice of branch of service would be made for you.

That is where we separate the men from the boys:
. Men = U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps.
. Boys = U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy (SEALs are not real sailors).

Navy Corpmans attached to Marine units also get an exception

Yes indeed. I believe U.S. Navy chaplains are in the middle of the 'shit' also. Right in there with the 'grunts'. They too get an exception. God bless them both...

BUD/S Orientation. That was tongue and cheek.

Indeed.
